Want to make a difference at Westlake? Student Council is the place to do it. We plan big events like Prom and Homecoming, support school-wide traditions, and launch projects that leave a real impact on our campus and community.
Start with General Council (GenCo), our service and execution team. GenCo meets once a month and gives you the chance to help plan, set up, and run events throughout the year. It’s low-commitment but high-impact, and it's the first step toward becoming a class officer or joining Executive Board.
Sign up by joining the Google Classroom and completing your application. Everyone who applies will be accepted.
Deadline: Friday, August 29 at 4 PM.

MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS
Student Council membership applications open every August and are reviewed by the Student Council Cabinet in September. To run for a Class Officer or Executive Board (EB) position for the next school year, a student must be a current member in good standing. Elections take place in March. If you miss the August application period, you are ineligible to run for office in the spring but may still get involved with StuCo through participation in Class Caucus. Use this form to apply for StuCo General Council membership.
MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
General Council
You must earn 6 StuCo points per semester through service opportunities and meeting participation. GenCo meetings and Class Caucus each earn 0.5 points, up to a maximum of 3 points per semester. Attendance at all meetings is encouraged to stay informed and connected, but missing a meeting does not affect your membership or standing. Any hours beyond the 6 required may be applied to other programs (e.g., NHS, Chaps in Service), with these restrictions: Meeting hours cannot be applied to other programs. No hour may count for more than one organization. Hours do not roll over to the next semester. Members who do not earn at least 6 points in a semester will be removed from GenCo.
Executive Board
Attend weekly EB meetings, your own class Caucus, and all required EB service opportunities. Each missed obligation counts as one strike. After three strikes, you must complete make-up credit or step down from EB as dictated by Cabinet. If you step down, you may continue serving as a GenCo member if you meet GenCo requirements.
Senior Cabinet
Meet all EB requirements listed above. Enroll in the Student Leadership Class and actively participate in three class periods per week. Failure to meet these requirements will result in a failing grade for the class period.
Attendance and Participation
StuCo does not distinguish between excused and unexcused absences. Members are expected to manage their schedules and fulfill their commitments. School-sanctioned conflicts may be considered when deciding if make-up credit is appropriate. If absences result from poor planning or repeated conflicts, you will be removed from GenCo or asked to step down from EB. Students who have participated in GenCo for at least six semesters, and either earned 40 or more points or served as members of the Executive Board, will earn the red & white cord for graduation. This cord recognizes both sustained commitment and meaningful contributions to the organization in Service, Leadership & Spirit.
