Theatre Arts I is a foundation for all other theatre studies. Students will study basic performance techniques as well as the role of the technical elements in the theatre in an effort to communicate the significance of collaboration when interpreting theatrical literature. Studies will include all aspects of taking a play from page to stage, basic acting technique, stage movement, dramatic structure, improvisation, character and script analysis, and theatre history.
In a nutshell, Theatre I is:
a class for all grade levels (9-12),
a place for students with all types of artistic interests (NOT JUST ACTING. Seriously.),
a chance to get to know tons of interesting people,
a great place to improve public speaking, social/emotional, and problem solving skills,
a class that allows you choice and creative freedom,
a place to work as a collaborative team,
for anyone who enjoys having new experiences, and
for anyone who enjoys learning about new perspectives
