We are fortunate to live in a nation that guarantees freedoms for its people. Tied to those freedoms are responsibilities. One responsibility is to be actively informed. In today's world it is vital to be aware of world events and ways that we can effectively interact with our Government in positive and constructive ways. To do this, it is essential to understand the documents and events that have shaped our current political world. My expectation is that students will come into my classroom with an open mind, actively listen to and respect diverse points of view and be able to form and articulate opinions based on facts.
Completion of all chapter reviews (there are 14 of them) count as 25% of your grade.
Completion of all 7 projects count as 35% of your grade.
Class Participation counts as 20% of your grade. Consistent attendance is important. Being on time to class and participating in class activities is vital. Active participation means being prepared to contribute to discussions and activities. Active participation DOES NOT include palying games on your iPad or texting on your phone.
The final exam counts as 20% of your grade. My exams are open book and are a combination of short answer questions, critical thinking questions and essays.

Westlake High School utilizes the Google Classroom platform to share classroom resources, many assignments, and assessment preparation materials to students. WHS students will receive a classroom code to access these materials, submit assignments, and track any missing work.
