Course Description:
6th grade science is a general science course which includes three areas: physical science, life science and earth science with 12 units that break down these umbrella topics. A variety of learning experiences will be incorporated into the curriculum throughout the year. These include labs, lectures, film and video presentations, cooperative learning, and individual work (vocabulary, study guides, labeling of diagrams, practice sheets, etc.)

Daily grades- 40% Skills Development
Major grades- 60% Tests/Projects

0 = missing and the window to turn it in has closed

Homework policy
Homework will be given a due date. Students are required to complete all assignments. Please refer to the student handbook for further information.
Make-up/Missing Work Policy
Students will have until 4pm the night before the unit test to turn in any and all work.
Retest Policy
Students will have the opportunity to retake tests up to an 80% within 5 days of receiving their original score.

Class Rules and Expectations
Students Will:
1. Always be kind.
2. Always keep hands, feet, and objects to self.
3. All personal devices (Cell phones, smart watches, laptops, etc) will be off and put away until end of school day.
Classroom Procedures
Entering the Class: Students are expected to enter calmly and immediately find their seats. Bags should be placed neatly near their desk; get out any supplies needed for that day.
Starting Class: Students are expected to read the instructions on the board and begin working quietly.
Turning in Work: Students will put their work in the "Turn-In" basket for their class period.
Asking for Help: Always raise your hand and wait to be called on if you have a question or concern. If you need extra help with a concept, lesson, or assignment always communicate with Miss Person!
Bathroom/Hall Pass: Always ask before leaving the classroom. Be sure to take the pass and use the sign in/out sheet.
Transitions: Students are expected to listen to to directions when switching from one activity to the next.
End of Class: Students are expected to pack up their belongings and throw away any trash they see. All supplies should be returned to their proper places. Students should then wait at their desks until the bell rings.

AI Policy
