Sociology is the study of human behavior in relationships and in the groups that surround us every day. Students will study patterns of human interaction in such settings as families, peer groups, school, religious organizations, and society in general. Students will also study how these groups are affected by culture, socioeconomic status, gender and race. The class will emphasize discussion and participation, reading from the text and outside sources, and seeing sociological concepts illustrated in film and media.
