This studio course is designed to concentrate on the art techniques of both 2-D and 3-D art. Students will explore a wide variety of ideas and creative expression drawn from the imagination, art history, art careers, and various cultures. The environment of this course is one of cooperative learning, a high level of creative activity and personal responsibility.
7th & 8th Grade students use direct observation, imagination and personal experiences as inspiration for artworks. For planning original works, students record visual ideas about their environment and experiences and express these ideas using a variety of both 2- and 3- dimensional media. Students will remember the vocabulary of the Elements of Art and Principles of Design learned in 6th Grade and will know how to apply them when creating art as well as talking about personal works and the works of others.
This class will emphasize each student's ideas, inspirations, and imagination.
This class requires a $30 art fee paid through the school for all the art supplies used. This will include a mixed media sketchbook, clay, paints, drawing materials, art surfaces, and all other tools.
Beyond those basic supplies, you may provide your own special supplies based on your interests.
