This class is designed to acquaint students with knowledge of the basic design elements, drawing and painting skills, compositional design, various techniques and media, art history, and aesthetics.
6th Grade students use direct observation, imagination and personal experiences as inspiration for artworks. For planning original works, students record visual ideas about their environment and experiences and express these ideas using a variety of both 2- and 3- dimensional media. Students will learn vocabulary within the Elements of Art and Principles of Design and will know how to apply them when talking about personal works and the works of others.
As the foundation of all other art courses, Art I enables students to gain a broad understanding of art. Students participate in a variety of learning experiences, including:
· Two- and three-dimensional art making
· Exploration of historical and cultural heritage
· Response and evaluation techniques
- Developmental Activities including art vocabulary, daily warm-ups, project directions and rubrics
A 2-pocket folder with brackets for worksheets labelled with your name
A Ziploc bag (quart or gallon sized) labelled with your name
