Core Vocabulary
Our core vocabulary is the group of words that we use the most as we communicate with each other every day, across all settings and for all possible functions and purposes. For students with complex communication needs, we develop systems so students can use these words in different modalities.
A Core Board is a manual communication system, usually made of paper or cardboard, which has collection of picture symbols representing words from core vocabulary. Words are usually organized by part of speech.
This core vocabulary board is one that we use a lot at EE. It is inexpensive and is available through Region IV, right here.
