Course Overview
This course provides opportunities for students to acquire facts, develop proper attitudes, and establish practices and habits that will contribute to personal, family, and community health. The course will include lectures, speakers, group discussions, and videotapes. The following topics will be covered: wellness, mental health, nutrition, first aid, consumer education, environmental health, diseases, substance abuse, tobacco use, sexually transmitted diseases, human sexuality, and decision-making skills. This is a High School credit course with the exact same curriculum as the high school. Your students have the choice to take the exact same course in high school if you feel they are not ready to handle some of the topics covered.
Required Materials/Class Supplies/Procedures
Charged IPAD- Students will be doing their work using their IPADS. They will access all class materials and turn in assignments through Google Classroom. Tests and quizzes will be taken on their IPAD through Skyward Gradebook.
Re-Test and Late Work Policies
Retesting Policy:
Students in 8th grade courses may earn up to a 70% on retests.
Students wishing to retest must communicate with their teacher via email within 5 days of receiving the test score.
Students in Pre-AP courses may retest once per nine-week grading period.
Late Work Policy:
For each class period that work is completed late, students will lose ten percent of the original possible score.
In order to receive credit, all late work must be completed prior to the unit assessment.
If the work is turned in more than 5 days late, the highest grade that can be achieved is a 50
Per the school handbook, students receive one day per absent day in order to complete work for full credit.
