US History Syllabus
Course Description:
This course provides a two-semester thematic survey of American History from Reconstruction to the present. Students grapple with some of the major themes of American History focusing on political, economic, social, and cultural evolutions. The student develops the ability to both command systematic factual knowledge and to analyze that knowledge critically. The course provides opportunities for cooperative learning, analyzing primary and secondary documents, working on historical critical writing skills, understanding how to research and correctly incorporate the research and unit projects. The course is hands-on and fast-paced. Students should expect to spend time on their own studying and completing projects. All exams and tests are cumulative.

Content comes from lectures (google slides), articles, periodicals, newspapers, short videos and online activities.

Grading Procedures:
50% Major: Unit Test and Projects
40% Daily: In Class & Homework Assignments
10% Participation:Actively engaged in the course work of the day

Exam Retakes:
A student that makes below a 70% on an exam may retake the exam for a grade up to a 70%. It is the student’s responsibility to communicate with the teacher to set up a retake.
Make Up Work:
The student is responsible for work missed. Day-to-day resources are available on Google Classroom.
Late/Missing Assignments:
It is the student’s responsibility to talk with his/her teacher to determine the best approach to make up the missing or late assignments.
