I am so excited to introduce myself as your 8th grade U.S. History teacher for this school year at HCMS! I grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, and then moved to Knoxville, Tennessee for college. I attended The University of Tennessee, Knoxville (the other UT...) where I earned my B.A. in History ('20) and M.S. in Secondary Social Sciences Education ('21). During my time in Knoxville, I began my teaching career as a student teacher at a local high school where I taught U.S. Government and Economics. Following my graduation, I moved to Boston, Massachusetts and taught 7th grade History at a local middle school for 2 years. I then moved to Austin and began working at HCMS in 2023. I am extremely eager to return to the Hill Country community for my 3rd year. Regardless of where I have taught, my teaching philosophy has remained the same: I believe that all students should be provided a high quality education that encourages them to become lifelong learners from a teacher that constantly challenges, supports, and advocates for them.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy traveling, playing and watching sports, reading, baking, video games, and spending time with my family and friends.
I truly believe this will be an excellent year, and I hope you do as well. Please do not be a stranger. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
