Alice in Wonderland
Alice in Wonderland
How do you get to Wonderland?
Over the hill or underland
Or just behind the tree?
When clouds go rolling by
They roll away and leave the sky
Where is the land beyond the eye
That people cannot see
Where can it be?
Where do stars go?
Where is the crescent moon?
They must be somewhere
In the sunny afternoon
Alice in Wonderland
Where is the path to Wonderland?
Over the hill or here or there?
I wonder where

#1 When the Circus Comes To Town
(spoken solo)
Look, ev’rybody! It’s a circus!
(all sing)
When the circus comes to our town,
ev’rybody acts like a clown!
All the world starts spinning upside down,
when the circus comes to town!
Oh, we’ll all get carried away.
We’ll declare a new holiday!
We’ll all shout “Hooray!”
We’ll laugh and play,
When the circus comes our way!
Count the elephants one by one.
All the clowns are havin’ fun!
They fly with ease up on the high trapeze.
If a lion gets loose we’ll have to run!
Ahhh!
When the circus comes to our town,
ev’rybody acts like a clown!
All the world starts spinning upside down,
when the circus comes to town!
(spoken solo)
Hey, ev’rybody! It’s a circus band!
(Circus band plays kazoos)
(all sing)
Walk the tightrope up in the air.
Down below, the people stare.
You lose your grip and then you just might slip,
And the crowd below gets quite a scare!
‘
(spoken solo)
He’s O.K.!
(all sing)
Oh, we’ll get carried away.
We’ll declare a new holiday!
We’ll all shout “Hooray!”
We’ll laugh and play,
When the circus comes our way!
It’s a circus day today.
Hooray!
#2 WHO WANTS TO BE THE RINGMASTER?
Who wants to be the Ringmaster?
Who wants to be the star?
Let’s hear a song from the Ringmaster.
Sing out wherever you are!
Ahhhhhh!!!
Solo: I want to be the one who sings.
I already have the hat!
I can do all those amazing things, but I sing just a little bit flat!
Ahhhhh!!!!!
Solo 2: I know that I can take you far by singing beneath this tarp. It’s very clear, I should be a star,
So what if my note’s a bit sharp?
Ah____!!!!!
Who wants to be the Ringmaster?
Who wants to be the star?
Let’s hear a song from the Ringmaster.
Sing out wherever you are!
Ah____!!!
Solo 3: I think that I should get the gig.
My voice will just melt the crowd!
Just make the big top an “extra big, “
‘Cause what I do best is sing loud!
Ah___!!!!
She can sing loud! (Ah!)
He can sing soft. (Ah!)
She can sing French. (Oui!)
HE can sing Deutsch. (Ja!)
She can sing high. (Ah!)
HE can sing low (Oh!)
We don’t know which way to go!
Help us find a star for our show!
Who wants to be the Ringmaster?
Who wants to be the star?
Let’s hear a song from the Ringmaster.
Sing out wherever you are!
Oh sing out wherever you are!
#3 The Mane Event
I’m a lion and I like to prowl,
and at times I prefer to scowl!
Now I’m the king of ev’rything.
Listen to my growl. (growl)
I’m a cat with powerful claws around here,
I make the laws
I’m the “mane” event in the circus tent.
I’m the original “jaws!”
I’m a lion, a mighty lion,
Fast and fierce and more.
No denyin’ no dandelion,
Listen to me roar! (roar)
Solo 1: (Spoken)
No I’m the king of this circus,
So there’s somethin’ I want you to know:
When I say, “Do it, “ you hop right to it!
And do it good and fast, not slow!
Solo 2: (Spoken)
You see, I’m a jungle beast.
A king, to say the least!
So do my bidding, now I’m not kidding
Or you might be a royal feast!
I’m a lion, a mighty lion,
Fast and fierce and more.
No denyin’ no dandelion,
Listen to me roar! (roar) (roar) (roar)
#4 Clowning Around
Clowning around, clowning around,
Never really knowing if we’re lost or we’re found!
Running ‘round in circles like a merry-go-round,
Here we are clowning around!
What a laugh! What a gas!
We’re riffraff! Got no class!
We’ll take any gag and run it into the ground,
Here we are clowning around!
Clowning around, clowning around,
Never really knowing if we’re lost or we’re found!
Running ‘round in circles like a merry-go-round,
Here we are clowning around!
Watch us run! What a hoot!
Aren’t we fun? Aren’t we cute?
We’ll take any gag and run it into the ground,
Here we are clowning,
Now nobody’s frowning,
now here we are clowning around
Clowning around, clowning around,
Never really knowing if we’re lost or we’re found!
Running ‘round in circles like a merry-go-round,
Here we are clowning around,
Now nobody’s frowning, now,
here we are clowning around!
YEAH!
(#5)SAD CLOWN
Solo: I’m Just a little sad clown .
I’m feeling a little bit down.
While other clowns make ‘em roll in the aisles,
I can’t even make ‘em just give me a smile
All: Sad Clown, a sad clown
Feeling oh so blue.
Sad clown, a sad clown.
What in the world can we do?
Oh, what in the world can we do?
She’s (He’s) just a little sad clown
Who’s feeling a little low down.
Why nobody wants her/him sad autograph,
She can’t even make a hyena laugh
Sad Clown, a sad clown
Feeling oh so blue.
Sad clown, a sad clown.
What in the world can we do?
Oh, what in the world can we do?
She/He can’t tell a joke
She/He can’t do a trick
Solo: I can’t make ‘em laugh
‘Cause I’m all out of “schtick!”
All: In her/his baggy pants,
She’s/he’s a pitiful sight,
she/he never gets anything right.
Solo: Oh, that’s why I’m feeling so down.
All: Oh, gee, she’s/he’s a mis’rable clown
#6 (REPRISE) When the Circus comes to Town
When the circus comes to our town,
ev’rybody acts like a clown!
All the world starts spinning upside down,
when the circus comes to town!
Oh, we’ll all get carried away.
We’ll declare a new holiday!
We’ll all shout “Hooray!”
We’ll laugh and play,
When the circus comes our way!
Count the elephants one by one.
All the clowns are havin’ fun!

BPE Music Teachers
Hi 5th Grade Parents!
The Jungle Book Musical is approaching and we need your help! This is an ALL HANDS ON DECK approach to make this musical happen! This is your 5th Grader's last year at BPE and we want this musical to be an incredibly memorable experience for them! Please help us do that by volunteering to help us. Here are the descriptions of the volunteer roles that we need you to sign up for. You can sign up for multiple roles. If any of the roles are filled, you can still sign up, just add your name to a row on the sheet and use the drop down on the "Volunteer Area" column to indicate your job selection.
Food: You will be part of the group who orders pizza and supplies snacks (budget provided) for the kids on the day of the musical performance (November 21st). Please note that you will need to be in attendance after school (2:30-musical time 6pm) to set up, serve and clean up food and snacks for the kids.
Parent Chaperone: You will be chaperoning the 5th grade students after school on November 21st. Plan to arrive at the school by 2:30 PM and stay until the musical begins at 6PM. You will also be part of planning activities for the kids in advance with the committee lead. This is a fun role to see the kids in action with their friends.
Stage Design: You will be helping paint, craft and decorate the stage for the musical. This role is super flexible and you can pick and choose when you help. It is suggested that you help for at least 4 sessions. Painting/crafting/decorating session times will be provided in the next week or so. Sessions will vary from weekday during school hours to evenings and even weekends.
Please note that for all of the volunteer roles that younger siblings are not allowed, so please book your sitters!
Thank you for all of your help! Please direct questions to Sarah Gibbs and Jennifer Grant (5th Grade Musical Co-Chairs) at sarahgibbs.rd@gmail.com or jenngrant6@yahoo.com

JUNGLE PROLOGUE
BAGHEERA: Now I'm the panther Bagheera
BALOO: ..and I'm the big bear Baloo,
BAGHEERA/ BALOO: …and we’ve got lots of jungle friends we want to introduce to you
BAGHEERA: Away we go to the jungle, over hill and valley and brook,
BAGHEERA/ BALOO: We’ll set the stage and turn the page and open up The JUNGLE Book.
BAGHEERA: (Spoken) SO SET THE STAGE! X X X
BALOO: (Spoken) And turn the page! X X X
BAGHEERA/ BALOO: And open up the Jungle Book!
(Onstage, BALOO and BAGHEERA reveal a living, breathing JUNGLE awakening to the dawn. A sun rises in the sky. THE JUNGLE addresses the audience)
JUNGLE: Come along and hear a story
Strange and marvelous and true.
Let us take you to the jungle
Under skies of Indian blue.
(MOWGLI enters, surrounded by a family of WOLVES.)
MOWGLI: Deep inside this leafy jungle
Lived a little orphan boy.
WOLVES: Wolves that raised him named him Mowgli.
He grew up to be their pride and joy.
JUNGLE: Pride and joy,
Pride and joy
MOWGLI/JUNGLE: Happy was the Mancub Mowgli,
All the jungle’s pride and joy
Mowgli lived well in the jungle
(Shere KHAN the tiger enters)
Til the tiger gave a roar
SHERE KHAN: ROAR!!!
(SPOKEN:) Get that Boy out of my jungle!
He can’t stay here any more!
(SHERE KHAN stares at MOWGLI from afar as the WOLVES signal for BAGHEERA to approach)
JUNGLE: Though his jungle family loved him,
Loved him more than words can say,
They knew Mowgli was in danger;
JUNGLE: Mowgli must be sent away.
Sent away, sent away…
To protect him from the tiger
Mowgli must be sent away
(BAGHEERA leads MOWGLI away from the WOLVES
ALL turn their attention to the audience)
ALL: If you’re wondering what will happen
Come along and take a look.
Come and listen to the story that we call
THE JUNGLE BOOK
Small Group1: Take a look,
Small Group 2: Take a look
Small Group 1: Take a look,
Small Group 2: Take a look
ALL: Come and listen to the story,
And begin… THE JUNGLE…
JUNGLE BOOK!
Script Reading For Evaluations:
There are two readings below, please be prepared and practice Reading #1 and #2.
READING #1
BALOO: No? Well, if you didn't do it, and I didn't do it, then who did?
SHANTI: Hello.
(SHANTI gives a little wave. EVERYONE turns around to look at her.)
MOWGLI: Who are you?
SHANTI: My name is Shanti. I live in the village over the river.
MOWGLI: You mean ... the man-village?
SHANTI: Is that what you call it here?
(The JUNGLE nods.)
Well, it's not just a man village. There are women and little girls ... and little boys just like you.
BALOO: Hey, have you been here all this time?
SHANTI: Sometimes I sneak into the jungle to have an adventure. I saw what happened ... and how brave you were.
(to the JUNGLE)
How brave all of you were ... I couldn't just sit there and not help out!
SHANTI’S FAMILY: (from offstage)
Shanti! Shanti! Where are you? You know you aren't allowed to play in the jungle!
SHANTI: Uh-oh. I'd better go.
READING #2
HATHI: Inspection! Arms!
(COLONEL HATHI turns to the BABY ELEPHANT, who stands at attention and salutes. MOWGLI does the same.)
Well, a new recruit, hey? (laughs)
I say, what happened to your trunk?
(COLONEL HATHI pokes MOWGLI's nose.)
MOWGLI: Hey! Stop that!
HATHI: Hah. (sputters)
A man-cub! This is treason! Sabotage! I'll have no man-cub in my jungle!
MOWGLI: It's not your jungle!
(BAGHEERA intervenes.)
BAGHEERA: Hold it! Hold it! I can explain. The man-cub is with me.
MOWGLI: She's taking me to the man-village.
HATHI: To stay?
BAGHEERA: You have my word.
HATHI: Good. That's where he belongs. And remember, an elephant never forgets! (huffs)
Forward ... march!
(COLONEL HATHI turns and marches off with his troops. CRASH offstage.)

Our story takes place in a senior center where all is quiet and calm and perhaps a bit boring; that is until the Center Director decides to use musc and dance to bring fun and excitement into the lives of the seniors. Through songs and dances that were very much a part of the seniors' past, the Director, along with friends and family, encourage the seniors to "get off their rockers" and join in on the fun.

SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW WILL BE USED FOR EVALUATION: PLEASE PRACTICE AND HAVE FUN! LYRICS BELOW! The music does not need to be memorized!
SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW
Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true
Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh, why can't I?
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh, why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?
This the scene that will be used for evaluation. Please practice reading through the scene. Please understand that reading from this scene does not mean you are trying out for these characters. We are looking for expression, stage presence, and being prepared. The scene does not need to be memorized.
SCENE 9:
DOROTHY: If you please, sir. We want to see the
Wizard right away -- all four of us.
GUARD: Orders are -- nobody can see the Great Oz!
Not nobody -- not nohow!
DOROTHY: Oh, but we must!
GUARD: Orders are - not nobody! Not nohow! He's in conference with himself on account of this trouble with the Witch.
DOROTHY: Oh, but -- but please. It's very important.
GUARD: Not nobody! Not nohow!
SCARECROW: But she's Dorothy!
GUARD: The Witch's Dorothy? Well -- that makes a difference. Just wait here -- I'll announce you at once.
(Guard exits for a moment)
SCARECROW: Did you hear that? He'll announce us at once! I've as good as got my brain!
TIN MAN: I can fairly hear my heart beating!
DOROTHY: I’ll be home in time for supper!
LION: In another hour, I'll be King of the Forest. Long Live the King!
(Enter Guard)
(Fanfare Music)
GUARD: Go on home! The Wizard says go away!
ALL: Go away?
DOROTHY Oh --
SCARECROW: Looks like we came a long way for nothing.
DOROTHY: Oh -- and I was so happy! I thought I was on my way home!
TIN MAN: Don’t cry, Dorothy!
DOROTHY: Auntie Em was so good to me -- and I never appreciated it. Running away like that…
(The Guard, sobbing)
GUARD: Oh, oh -- please don't cry any more. I’ll get you into the Wizard somehow. Come on. I had an Auntie Em myself once. Come, follow me…
(Exit everyone)

SQUIRM CHOREOGRAPHY
SQUIRM
SQUIRM
What are the things that make you Squirm?
A Snake, or a bat, or a spider, or worm?
We have 'em all here, so we'd like to confirm
That today's the day
We're gonna make you SQUIRM!
We said today's the day
We're gonna make you SQUIRM!
Some things'll seem like they're too gross!
You don't want to let them get anywhere close
And maybe you'd like just to say "Adios!"
But today's the day
We celebrate things GROSS!
Come on, today's the day
We sing a song about GROSS!
Squirm like a worm; wiggle 'til you giggle.
Something gross might be good for you...
Slimy and grimy, squiggles with a jiggle.
It might be good, but we still go EWWWWW!
What are the things that make you Squirm?
A Snake, or a bat, or a spider, or worm?
We have 'em all here, so we'd like to confirm
That today's the day
We're gonna make you SQUIRM!
We said today's the day
We're gonna make you SQUIRM!
#1. Your socks are wet!
#2 You forgot you had a test!
#3 There's gum on your shoe!
#4. You're under arrest!
#5. Your buddy ate a worm!
#6. You have to give a speech!
You've got a little itch that's just out of reach.
Arrgh!
What are the things that make you Squirm?
A Snake, or a bat, or a spider, or worm?
We have 'em all here, so we'd like to confirm
That today's the day
We're gonna make you SQUIRM!
We said today's the day
We're gonna make you SQUIIIIRRRRMMMM!!!!
EEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!
It’s Cool to be a Worm
It’s so cooooool! It’s so cool to be a worm.
Pick me up, tickle me, and just watch me squirm.
I can wiggle way down low, but I think I’m cut above.
A worm is a critter that everybody can love.
A worm is a critter that everybody can love.
I’ve got no eyes , and no legs, and no arms,
But it’s all a part of my many charms.
If dirt in your garden is hard in the ground,
I’ll just spend my days mixin’ it ‘round
And round around and around!
It’s so cooooool! It’s so cool to be a worm.
Pick me up, tickle me, and just watch me squirm.
I can wiggle way down low, but I think I’m cut above.
A worm is a critter that everybody can love.
A worm is a critter that everybody can love.
I’ve got no nose, and no hint of a chin,
So it’s good that I can breathe through my skin.
I always say bein’ a worm is so great.
If I break in two, I just regenerate.
It’s so cooooool! It’s so cool to be a worm.
Pick me up, tickle me, and just watch me squirm.
I can wiggle way down low, but I think I’m cut above.
A worm is a critter that everybody can love.
A worm is a critter that everybody can love.
Aaaaahh!
A Spider Song
Welcome to my web!
I hope that yo can stay.
“Hang” around for a little while,
And you will make my day!
Spinning, spinning, spinning, spinning,
spinning, spinning, spinning!
We’re spinning every day,
And we’re spinning ev’ry night!
Spinning, spinning, spinning, spinning,
spinning, spinning, spinning!
We’re working on a web ’til it comes out right!
Dancing on eight legs
Is better by far than two.
Watch as I do a little dance,
And spin a web ‘round you!
Spinning, spinning, spinning, spinning,
spinning, spinning, spinning!
We’re spinning every day,
And we’re spinning ev’ry night!
Spinning, spinning, spinning, spinning,
spinning, spinning, spinning!
We’re working on a web ’til it comes out right!
The itty bitty spider…
Climbed up the waterspout.
Down came the rain…
And washed the spider out!
Out came the sun…
And dried up all the rain.
And the itty bitty spider…
Climbed up the spout again!
SPEAKER 1: Oh, no!
SPEAKER 2: Looks like he’ll never make it!
Spinning, spinning, spinning, spinning,
spinning, spinning, spinning!
We’re spinning every day,
And we’re spinning ev’ry night!
Spinning, spinning, spinning, spinning,
spinning, spinning, spinning!
We’re finishing our web and it looks just right!
……yeahhhh!!!!
A Snake in the Grass
A snake in the grasss…can be sensational…
Inspirational…even educational…
And if you come by me,
Stand back and let me passss…
There are many things taller, but no better crawler
Than the sensational ssssssnake in the grasssss.
So don’t run. We’ll have some fun.
A snake can be friends with almost anyone
We all have a place in the sun.
If we can be friends, the fun has just begun.
A snake in the grasss can be mysteriousss…
Oh, so seriousss…even “Will Shakespeariousss…”
Look down and you will see;
We’re low, but we’re not crass.
Call us “one in a million, truly reptilian,”
Thee sensational ssssnake in the grassss…
Thee sensational ssssnake in the grassss…
Ssssssssss!
Give a Bat a Call
Bats are so beautiful, we’re even colorful
Black or grey pr red or brown
And bats are a lot like any old animal,
‘Cept we choose to snooze upside down!
Bats have a built- in mosquito detector.
We eat up your bugs, but we don’t gain weight!
When feeding on seeds and when slurping up nectar
We’re looking for more plants to pol-li-nate!
Bats! Bats! Put out the call!
The bat is a friend to us all.
Bats! Bats! No time for long chats,
But if you need a friend, give a bat a call!
Yes, if you need a friend, give a baaaat aaa call!
Bat 1: Okay! Batter up!
Bat 2: Batter up??
Bat 1: Yeah, we’re bats! …BAT-ter up … Get it?
(Bat 2 shrugs)
Bat 1: (very disappointed) …Whatever!
Bat 3: Hey, what’s the first thing that bats learn in school?
Bat 4: Okay, what IS the first thing that bats learn in school?
Bat 3: The Alpha- Bat!!
A bat is a mammal, the same as a camel.
But bats are still different, we te-sti-fy!
A bat-‘ll grow hair like a new littl lamb- ‘ll,
But a camel ‘r lamb-‘ll never e-ver FLY!
Bats! Bats! Put out the call!
The bat is a friend to us all.
Bats! Bats! No time for long chats,
But if you need a friend, give a bat a call!
Yes, if you need a friend, give a baaaat aaa call!
Squirm (Reprise)
What are the things that make you squirm?
A snake, or a bat or a spider, or worm?
We have ‘em all here, so we’d like to confirm
That today’s the day
We’re gonna make you SQUIRM!
We said today’s the day
We’re gonna make you SQUIRM!
Some things’ll seem like they’re too gross!
You don’t want to let them get anywhere close,
And maybe you’d like just to say “Adios!”
But today’s the day
We celebrate things GROSS!
Come on , today’s the day
We sing a song about GROSS!
Squirm like a worm; wiggle ’til you giggle.
Something gross might be good for you…
Slimy and grimy, squiggles with a jiggle.
It might be good but we still go EWWWWW!

ALADDIN LYRICS (FOR PRACTICE PURPOSES)
Arabian Nights
Genie: Oh, I come from a land, from a far away place
where the caravan camels roam.
Where its flat and immense and the
Heat is intense. It’s barbaric, but hey, it’s home.
When the wind’s from the east,
and the sun’s from the west,
And the sand in the glass is right,
come on down, stop on by, hop a carpet and fly
to another Arabian night!
Agrabahn Group singing:
Follow us to a place where incredible feats
are routine ev’ry hour or so .
Where enchantments run rampant, gets wild in the streets.
Open Sesame! Here we go!
Agrabahn Group singing:
See the dervish dances in the ridiculous pants,
then romance to your hearts delight
Come on down, come on in! Let the magic begin!
It’s another Arabian night!
Arabian Nights, like Arabian days,
More often than not are hotter than hot
In a lotta good ways.
Arabian nights, ‘neath Arabian moons…
A fool off his guard could fall and fall hard out there on the dunes.
Genie: (spoken)Now you know what Agrabah is famous for right? The lamp…(reveals a lamp) Don’t be fooled by its commonplace appearance. Like so many things, it is not what is outside, but what is inside that counts
(10 Measure interlude)
Agrabahns: Arabian Nights, Arabian Nights
Genie: (spoken) You see, Agrabah is a city where penniless nobodies...(Aladdin appears and freezes) …can turn out to be a noble somebody! Even his pals…(Babkak, Omar and Kassim appear by Aladdin and freeze. Genie gives a dubious look.) …are thick as thieves.
(4 measure interlude)
All: Arabian Nights! Arabian Night!
(Jasmine and Sultan appears and freeze)
Genie: (spoken) Agrabah is a place where a princess would give up her crown for true love. Except that her father, the Sultan, is a stickler for the ancient ways.
Agrabahns: Arabian Nights! Arabian Night!
(Jafar and Iago appear and freeze.)
Genie: (spoken) Here it’s wise to watch your step, for danger lurks around every corner. But most importantly, Agrabah is a place where everybody sings!
(5 measure interlude)
All: Arabian Nights, like Arabian days,
More often than not are hotter than hot
In a lotta good ways.
Arabian nights, ‘neath Arabian moons…
A fool off his guard could fall and fall hard out there on the dunes.
Arabian nights! Arabian Nights!
Arabian nights Arabian Nights! Arabian nights!
ONE JUMP AHEAD
Kassim, Babkak, Omar: Gotta keep - one jump ahead of the breadline,
One swing ahead of the sword.
Aladdin: I steal only what I can’t afford.
Omar: And that’s everything!
Beggars : One jump ahead the lawmen. That’s all, and that’s no joke.
Kassim, Babkak, Omar, Aladdin: These guys don’t appreciate we’re broke.
Guard 1: Riff- Raff!

Guard 1: Rip him open
Guard 3: Take it back, guys
Aladdin: I can take a hint, gotta face the facts.
I could use a friend or two (Aladdin slips through a group of beggars.)
Beggars: True!---Oh, it’s sad Aladdin’s hit the bottom
He’s become a one man rise in crime.
Beggar 1: I’d blame parents, ‘cept he hasn’t got ‘em.
Aladdin: Gotta eat to live, gotta steal to eat. Tell you all about it when I got the time!
One jump ahead of the hit men. One hit ahead of the flock.
I think I’ll take a stroll around the block.
Razoul: Stop, thief!
Apple Vendor: Vandal!
Guard 1: Outrage!
Guard 2: Scandal!
Aladdin: Let’s not be too hasty.
(A fortune teller grabs Aladdin just as the Guards are about to pounce.)
Fortune Teller: Still,I think he’s rather tasty.
Aladdin: Gotta eat to live, gotta steal to eat. Otherwise we’d get along
Agrabahns: Wrong!
Kassim, Babkak, Omar, Aladdin: One jump ahead of the hoofbeats
Agrabahns: Vandal!
Kassim, Babkak, Omar, Aladdin:One hop ahead of the hump
Agrabahns: Street Rat!
Kassim, Babkak, Omar, Aladdin:One trick ahead of disaster.
Agrabahns: Scoundrel!
Aladdin:They’re quick, but I’m much faster
Agrabahns: Take that!
Aladdin: Here goes, better throw my hand in, wish me happy Landin’. All I gotta do is jump!---------------(Aladdin leaps out of sight)
END OF SONG
Razoul: Don’t let him get away! (Razoul and Guards exit)

Omar: Omar!
Aladdin: Aladdin!
Kassim: Kassim!
THESE PALACE WALLS
Isir: Told to show devotion ev’ry day,
Manal:and not second guess it.
Jasmine:If a new emotion comes my way…
Rajah: You suppress it.
Jasmine:What would be your suggestion?
Manal:Stand on your own two feet.
Manal/Isir: And ask why a certain question keeps repeating.
Jasmine: (to Rajah) Why shouldn't I fly so far from here?
I know the girl I might become here
Follow your heart or you might end up cold and callous
(Rajah gets on board with the plan)
Manal, Isir, Rajah: Love comes to those who go and find it.
If you’ve a dream, then stand behind it.
Jasmine: Maybe there's more beyond these palace walls
Pal-ace- Walls—--- Something waits beyond these palace walls!
FRIEND LIKE ME
Genie: Hit it! Wa-wa-wa Oh, my!
Wa Wa Wa No, No!
Wa-wa-wa Ha! Ha! Ha!
Well, A-li -ba-ba had them forty thieves; She-her-a-za-da had a thousand tales.
But Master you’re in luck ‘cause up your sleeves you got a brand of magic never fails.
You got some power in your corner now,
Some heavy ammunition in your camp.
You got some punch, pizazz, yahoo, and how! See all you gotta do is rub that lamp, and I’ll say,
Genie, Ensemble: Mister Aladdin, sir, - what will your pleasure be?
Genie: Let me take your order, jot it down.
You ain’t never had a friend like me.
Genie, Ensemble: No, no no! Life is your restaurant,
And I’m your maitre d’.
Genie, Ensemble: C’mon whisper what it is- you want.
You ain’t never had a friend like me.

Aladdin:I can show you the world, shining, shimmering, splendid,
Tell me Princess, now when did you last let your heart decide?
I can open your eyes, take you wonder by wonder,
Over, sideways, and under on a magic carpet ride.
A whole new world, a new fantastic point of view.
Aladdin,Jasmine: No one to tell us no, or or say we’re only dreaming. where to go,
Jasmine: A whole new world—,
Aladdin: (Spoken)Don’t you dare close your eyes…
Jasmine: …a dazzling place I never knew. But when I’m way up here, it's crystal clear that now I’m in a whole new world with you-
Ensemble: Unbelievable sights, indescribable feeling.
Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling, through an endless diamond sky.
a hundred thousand things to see.
I’m like a shooting star. I’ve come so far. I can’t go back. I’m in a whole new world
With new horizons to pursue.
I’ll chase them anywhere. There’s time to spare.
Let me share this whole new world with you.

A thrilling chase, a wond’rous place for you and me-.

PARENT VOLUNTEER LETTER
September 18th, 2022
Dear 5th Grade Parents:
This year, we are very excited to present ‘Aladdin’ the musical as the 5th grade performance at Bridge Point. Your children are already rehearsing the music in class, and we cannot wait to present this beloved story to the Bridge Point community!
However, we cannot turn the cafeteria into Arabian marketplace and a mystical Desert all by ourselves. Every year, it takes a team of parent volunteers to create the magical world on the stage, and we need your help! If you love being creative, have an artistic flair and some time on your hands, we would love to have your assistance in the following areas:
Set design and set pieces
Prop gathering
Costume help
Program design/layout
Snacks/ Dinner before Parent Performance show
Parent Performance Day- Parent Volunteers for after school care
We will have a parent volunteer meeting to discuss the various needs of the show, and at that time we will assign specific roles to people who are willing to help. We cannot shoulder this process alone, so please consider coming to the meeting to join in the fun! Here is the meeting information: The meeting is in person or on zoom
WHEN: Tuesday, September 27th
WHERE: Music Room (501) or Zoom Meeting https://eanesisd.zoom.us/j/7765048704
TIME: 11:00-11:30am
We truly hope that you will be able to join us. We cannot do this show without your assistance, and we will be so grateful for whatever time/talent you can donate.
Your children deserve an amazing show, and that can only happen with your help!
Thank you so much for your support and consideration!
We look forward to seeing you there!
Sincerely,
Patience Jones &Anna Schermerhorn

SPEAKING PART FOR EVALUATION :
Kassim: So, what did you steal this time?
Aladdin: Steal? I don’t know what you’re talking about, Kassim.
Babkak: Come on, Aladdin. You’ve taught us every swindle we know.
Omar: Babka’s right. You’re the best thief this side of the River Jordan.
Aladdin: That’s all behind me now, Omar. I promised my parents before they died I’d never steal again.
Kassim: (pulls a loaf of bread out of Aladdin’s satchel) So what’s this?
Aladdin: (grabs the bread back) Food doesn’t count. A guy’s gotta eat.
Omar: Maybe we should all clean up our act. Every time I pick a pocket, I feel awful.
Babkak: Falafel? Did somebody say falafel?
Kassim: The way I see it, we’re just stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. It just so happens that we’re the poor.
Aladdin: I don’t know, Kassim. When people see me, I don’t want the first thing they think to be “thief”.
Kassim: People don’t think that.

I’m A Believer
I thought love was only true in fairy tales
Meant for someone else, but not for me
Love was out to get me
That's the way it seemed
Disappointment haunted all my dreams
CHORUS:
Then I saw her face, now I'm a believer
Not a trace, of doubt in my mind
I'm in love, I'm a believer
I couldn't leave her if I tried
I thought love was more or less a givin' thing
The more I gave, the less I got, oh yeah
What's the use in tryin'
All you get is pain
When I wanted sunshine, I got rain
CHORUS:
And then I saw her face, now I'm a believer
Not a trace, of doubt in my mind
Now I'm a believer, I believe, I believe,I believe
I believe
I believe
I believe
I’m a believer!
Believe,
TRAVEL SONG
Donkey: Ooo! I got the perfect rhyme for that!
SHREK: Oh no, I’m not interested-
Donkey: Sing a song.
Yes, a travel song when ya gotta go somewhere cause the fun is gettin’ there.
Yeah.
Spoken:(Oh what the heck, I must confess I love a road trip!)
(Shrek knew this would happen. The landscape tolls by over the following….)
All:Sing a song!
Hit the trail Forget the maps.
Forget the guides
Before ya know it,
You’ve made strides with me.
And I know, all I need all along is a path and a pal and a song.
So I’m singing and I’m pallin’ with you .
Donkey: (spoken)See? It makes the time go by faster!
Shrek: Why me? Why me? Tell me, what was my crime?
Donkey: We are strollin’
Shrek: As chatty as a parrot, more annoying than a mime (puss in boots walks by)
Donkey: Hey look, a cat who’s wearin’ boots! That’s crazy!
Shrek: Why me? Why me? A simple answer would be fine
Donkey: You know, this is good cardio.
Shrek: Won’t someone please send me a sign?
Donkey: Oh, look a sign!
Yunita Pal Avenue straight ahead. (The sign appears and exits.)
Shrek: What did I do deserve this? Honestly This donkey of mine is asinine. Why me?
Donkey: Oh man, what could be better than this?!
SUNG AT THE SAME TIME
Shrek: Why me? Why me?
A simple answer would be fine
Won’t someone please send me a sign?
What did I do to deserve this?
Honestly This donkey o mine is asinine.
Why am I with you?
All: Sing a song! Hit the road!
It’s the way to get around!
It’s the way to get around!
Before ya know it you’ve gained ground with me!
And I know, all I need all along a path and a pal and a song.
So I’m singin and I’m pallin’ with you——
ALL: Things are looking up here in Duloc
Just take a look
The things he’s cooking up here in Duloc
He like to cook!
A model that amazes. A plan with
seven phases
Bum Bum Bum Bum Bum
Farquaad: Things are looking up here in Duloc
All: They’re looking up!
Farquaad: In Duloc
All: The ladies all look swell
the men are so dashing
Thanks to his new dress code.
The fashions never clashing.
Hey nanny nanny nanny no.
This castle he had built is taller than the cliff tops.
A city like a postcard with a monorail and gift shops!
And so
And so
And so…
And so
And so…
Farquaad: No one from the gutter in Duloc.
ALL: He’s taking aim!
Farquaad: Embrace the cookie cutter in Duloc
ALL:We’re all the same
Farquaad: The upshot is enormous if you can shout
SPOKEN: Conform us!
Things are looking up

Ah
Here is Duloc!
Ah
Up, up, up, up, up
WELCOME TO DULOC
Duloc Performers: Welcome to Duloc.
Such a perfect town.
Here we have some rules,
let us lay them down.
Don’t make waves,
stay in line and we’ll get along fine.
Duloc is a perfect place,
Please keep off of the grass.
Shine your shoes, wipe your face.
Duloc is, Duloc is, Duloc is a perfect place.
Big Bright Beautiful World
Mama Ogre: (Sung) Listen son, you’re growing up so quickly. Growing up, bigger by the day
Papa Ogre: Although we want you here, the rules are very clear.
Mama Ogre: Now you’re seven.
Papa: (Now you’re seven)
Mama and Papa Ogre So it’s time to go away.
All: Your Mama packed a sandwich for your trip
Your Papa packed your boots in case of snow.
You’re gonna make us proud.
No backing up allowed
Just keep walking
Just keep walking
…and you’ll find somewhere to go.
It’s a big bright beautiful world, with happiness all around.
It’s peaches and cream and every dream comes true.
But not for you.
Mama Ogre: We’re ugly son, which means that life is harder. People hate the things they cannot understand
Papa Ogre: And when they look at us they tend to make a fuss
Mama: Burn our houses down
Papa: And Chase us..…off our land.
All: It’s important that you find a cozy cesspit
A place no one would ever dare to tread.
And if they happen by, make sure you terrify them.
Mama: If you don’t son…
Papa: If you don’t son…
Mama and Papa:…then you’ll surely wind up dead.
ALL:Goodbye! Goodbye
Watch out for men with pitchforks!
Storyteller 1: And so the little ogre went off and found a muddy patch of swampland.
Storyteller 2: Far, far, away from the world that despised him.
Storyteller 3: And there he stayed for many years,
Storyteller 4: …tucked away and all alone.
(Shrek enters)
Shrek: Which is just the way I like it!
(Music plays- Shrek sings)
***Shrek: Keep your big bright beautiful world!
I’m Happy where I am, all alone.
I got all I need.
So read the stinkin’ sign!
(Shrek holds up ‘BEWARE OGRE! sign)
All: Keep your big bright beautiful world!
He parties on his own-anyway.
Doing what he can with a one man conga line.
Shrek: and it’s mine!
Shrek: Alone! It’s mine! And its mine
Shrek: All Mine!! ***
STORY OF MY LIFE
(Song begins)
Pinocchio(sung-spoken):Life is disappointing.
Woe is what I know.
Outed by my nose,
That’s just how it goes for poor Pinocchio.
Story of my life!
Always doomed to fail.
Cheated by a fox.
Swallowed by a whale.
That’s the story of my life, Oh yeah!
That’s the story of my life.
Captain of the Guards: Three Bears, take your spot over there by that sign.
(The THREE BEARS try to find it.)

Pirates Volunteer Letter
Dear 2nd Grade Parents:
This year, we are very excited to present ‘Pirates’ as the 2nd grade musical performance at Bridge Point. Your children are already rehearsing the music in class, and we cannot wait to present this dynamic story to the Bridge Point community!
However, we cannot turn the cafeteria into a pirate ship on the high sea all by ourselves. Every year, it takes a team of parent volunteers to create the magical world on the stage, and we need your help! If you love being creative, have an artistic flair and some time on your hands, we would love to have your assistance in the following areas:
Set design and set pieces
Prop gathering
Costume help
Program design/layout
We will have a parent volunteer meeting to discuss the various needs of the show, and at that time we will assign specific roles to people who are willing to help. We cannot shoulder this process alone, so please consider coming to the meeting to join in the fun! We will have coffee and snacks! Here is the meeting information:
WHEN: Tuesday, February 4, 2020 WHERE: Music Room B
TIME: 7:45am – 8:15am
We truly hope that you will be able to join us. We cannot do this show without your assistance, and we will be so grateful for whatever time/talent you can donate. Your children deserve an amazing show, and that can only happen with your help!
Thank you so much for your support and consideration! We look forward to seeing you there!
Sincerely,
Patience Jones & Joanna King BPE Music Teachers

Purplebeard: Has a purple beard and loves grape juice. He might have a hook for an arm and a purple hat on his head.

Announcers/Small Group Singers/Dancers/Instrument players: Knee-length pants with bright colored knee socks, blousy shirts with cummerbund belts. Some could wear bandanas, others tri-cornered hats. Some could have patches over one eye, a parrot sitting on a shoulder, an earring in one ear, and so on. You might have a peg leg, a hook for a hand. Be creative and colorful as opposed to dark and menacing.

Pirate: Avast!
Stowaway: (continues) Pirates all are we! Pirates all are we!
Pirate: Avast
Stowaway: Pirates all are we!
Pirate: (with rage) Avast! Avast! Avast! That means “stop it”
( The stowaway realizes that nobody else is singing and all of the pirates are looking at him with disbelief. He stops and is a bit embarrased)
Pirate: When I say “Avast” you stop! Stop! Stop! (a slight pause) Don’t you speak “Pirate”?
Stowaway: No, sir. Not yet. But I plan to, for I , too want to be a pirate just like you.
(all the pirates laugh)
Pirate: You a pirate (There is a pause- then all the pirates laugh)
You can’t be a pirate! You’re too small!
Arr! You’re too young!
Arrr! You’re too clean!
Stoaway: But being a pirate is all I’ve ever wanted to be. It’s what Ive dreamed about ever since I was a child. ( He attempts to show them what a quick learner he is.) Watch! Watch this. (He lifts his very small toy cutlass) Avast! Avast! Avast, I say!
(all the pirates laugh)

PIRATES ALL ARE WE
All ye lubbers and lads,

Man that sword, ye cowardly swab!
Off to sail the rol-lic-king sea.
Not a ship we wou-ld not rob.
Pirates all are we!
Come and sail the sea
under skull and bones,
or I guar-an-tee
you’ll sink to Davy Jones-------!
(Speak) Arrr!
PIRATES ALL ARE WE
All ye lubbers and lads,

Finest time ye ev-er have had,
come along with me!
Man that sword, ye cowardly swab!
Off to sail the rol-lic-king sea.
Not a ship we wou-ld not rob.
Pirates all are we!
Come and sail the sea
under skull and bones,

Finest time ye ev-er have had,
come along with me!
Man that sword, ye cowardly swab!
Off to sail the rol-lic-king sea.
Not a ship we wou-ld not rob.
Pirates all are we!
Pirates all!
Pirates all!
Pirates all---

(Speak) Pirates all are we!
Arr!!
STOWAWAY
What should we do with a stow-a-way?
What shall we do to make him pay to-day?
Toss him up and over-board,
feed him to the sharks,
heave him down the gang-plank,
poke him ‘til he barks!
Stow-a-way-----!
Stow-a-way----!
What should we do with a stow-a-way?
What shall we do to make him pay to-day?
Pinch him ‘til he cries out,
listen to him whine,
tie him to the mast,
or dunk him in the brine!
Stow-a-way-----!
Stow-a-way----!
Stowaway Solo – But wait, you noble sirs,
thy good and handsome crew,
I want to be a pirate;
I want to be like you!
Oh, noble buccaneers,
please let me come along.
I’ve waited all these years,
to sing a pirate song!
Stow-a-way-----!
Stow-a-way----!
Stow-a-way-----!
What should we do with a stow-a-way?
What shall we do to make him pay today?
Maroon him on an isle or strap him to the keel,
make him walk the plank,
or hang him by his heels!
Stowaway------!
Stowaway-----!
Stowaway-----!
Stowaway!

Can you live with worms and have a lot of fun?
Can you fool a mate and never feel his pain?
Can you laugh at a hurricane?

So you wanna be a pirate?
Yeah, you wanna be a pirate?
Oo, oo oo

Do you look good in a patch?
‘Cause that’s a pirate.
So, you wanna be a pirate?
A hooky, spooky, kooky pirate?
Oo, oo oo
Can you stay up in a tower?
Go a month without a shower?
That’s a pirate!
Can you swab a deck? Can you swing a sword?
Can you give a speech with a single word?
(King: ARRR!)
Can you hoist a sail, can you dig a trench?
And can you stand the stench?
So you wanna be a pirate?
Yeah, you wanna be a pirate?
Oo, oo oo
Can you crawl down through a hatch?
Do you look good in a patch?
‘Cause that’s a pirate.
So, you wanna be a pirate?
A hooky, spooky, kooky pirate?
Oo, oo oo
Can you stay up in a tower?
Go a month without a shower?
That’s a pirate!
All:
Can you do a dance on the quarter deck?
Can you sail in rocks and never wreck?
Can you pull an oar with the very best?
Can you find a buried treasure chest?

– Can you swing a piratey cutlass
– Well…no.
Do you know the stem from the stern?
– – Uh…no.
– Can you plunder with a patch on your eye?

Shining star up in the night,
Can you tell me why
I can’t see what you can see

Tell me where I’m meant to be.
Hear my plea, set me free,
‘cause I’m lost, I’m lost at sea.

Stowaway: What will become of me?
Duet: Sing out ye hearties and show them no fear.
Sing out and bray like a bold buccaneer!
Our chantey is rough as the rollicking sea.
If ye be a pirate, repeat after me.
All Yo, ho, ho, yo, ho, ho, Come on and sing along!
Yo, ho, ho, yo, ho, ho, Singin’ a pirate song!
Ye can’t be a pirate with no pirate song.
We vocalize daily as we sail along.
Shiver me timbers and sail from the shore.
Sing out and let the whole world hear your roar. (PIRATES: ARRR!)
Yo, ho, ho, yo, ho, ho, Come on and sing along!
Yo, ho, ho, yo, ho, ho, Singin’ a pirate song!

JoJo: This might be a pool like I’ve read of in books,
connected to one of those underground brooks!
An underground river that starts here and flows
right under the bathtub!
And then who knows?
It’s possible—— Anything’s possible!
It might go along down here no one can see,
Right under State Highway Two Hundred and Three!
Right under the wagons!
Right under the toes of Missus Umbroso
who’s hanging out clothes!
It’s Possible—— Anything’s possible!
It’s Possible—— Anything’s possible!
This might be a river now mightn’t it be,

Smaller than the eye can see.
Its true sir We’re who’s who, sir.
Im a Who an so is she
Mrs Mayor:
We’re tiny little people blowing by in the air,
Wondering how and why—-
We’re on Who, the tiniest planet in the town.
Entire Who’s Population:
A-la-de-la-de-la-de-la! Who! Who!
A-la-de-la-de-la-de-la! Who! Who!
A-la-de-la-de-la-de-la! Who! Who!

At any given moment we could crash or be drowned,
Hitting the ground, oh my!
Here on Who, the tiniest planet in the sky.——
Whos: Who! Who! Who! Who!
Mayor: I’m the mayor.
Whos: Who! Who! Who! Who!

Tiny umbrellas that drip on the tiniest floors. Who!—
The tiniest tunnels and tiniest streets,
Miniature buses with miniature seats,
Miniature buildings with miniature windows and doors

Mr. And Mrs. Mayor: No smaller town than ours!
Everyone: No smaller town than ours!
All: (shout) Whos!!!

Then carefully, tenderly,
Gently he crept
Up the trunk to the nest
Where the little egg slept.
Then Horton the elephant smiled:
HORTON
Now that's that.
All:
And he sat and he sat
And he sat and he sat.
He sat all that day
And he kept the egg warm...
And he sat all that night
Through a terrible storm...
(Thing 1 and Thing 2 enters and gleefully squirts HORTON with a water pistol and confetti)
Ooh...Ahh!
HORTON
I'm cold and I'm wet
And I'm catching the flu.
Oh, Mayzie, please hurry!
I've got to save Who!
Oh, Mayzie, please hurry!
I've got to save Who!
There's a faraway land, so the stories all tell
Somewhere beyond the horizon
If we can find it then all will be well
Troubles there are few, someday we'll go to
Solla Sollew, Solla Sollew
Solla Sollew, Solla Sollew
They say breezes are warm there and people are kind
Maybe it's something like heaven
I close my eyes and I see in my mind
Skies of bluest blue and I'm sure it's true
Solla Sollew, Solla Sollew
Solla Sollew, Solla Sollew
I've had so much trouble finding my way there
When I get close, it disappears
If I can get there, I'm gonna stay there
If it takes me miles, if it takes me years
High on a mountain or lost on the sea
Sooner or later I'll find it, I have a picture of how it will be
On the day I do, troubles will be through
But I'll be home with you
Solla Sollew, Solla Sollew
Solla Sollew, Solla Sollew
Solla Sollew, Solla Sollew
Solla Sollew, Solla Sollew
Solla Sollew, Solla Sollew
Solla Sollew, Solla Sollew
Solla Sollew
Horton:
There are secrets on a leaf
In the water
In the air
Hidden planets, tiny worlds
All invisible
Not a person seems to know,
Not a person seems to care
There is no one who believes a thing I say
Well, I'm fairly certain at one time or other
Great thinkers all feel this way
I'm alone in the universe
So alone in the universe!
I've found magic, but they don't see it
They all call me a lunatic
Okay! Call me a lunatic!
If I stand on my own so be it!
'Cause I have wings
Yes, I can fly
Around the moon and far beyond the sky
And one day soon, I know there you'll be-
One small voice in the universe
One true friend in the universe
Who believes in me
JOJO:
I’m alone in the universe
So alone in the universe
My own planets and stars are glowing
Horton: Alone in the universe
No one notices anything, not one person is listening
They don't have any way of knowing
Horton: Nobody knows that I have wings
Jojo:I have wings
Horton: And I can fly
Jojo: I can fly
Horton: Around the moon and far beyond the sky
Both: Well someday soon, you will hear my plea
Horton: One small voice in the universe
Jojo: One true friend in the universe
Both: Please believe in me!
Doo doo, doo doo, doo doo, doo doo doo doo…
There once was a girl bird named Gertrude McFuzz
And she had the smallest plain tail ever was.
One droopy-droop feather, that's all that she had
And oh! That one feather made Gertrude so sad
She curled it. She dyed it she gave it a puff
She decked it with flowers
But it wasn't enough.
For no matter what,
It just was what it was-
A tail that simply wasn't meant
To catch the eye of an elephant…
The one feather tail of Miss Gertrude McFuzz
Yeah
Brother 1: There’s a rustle in the bushes
Brother 2: There’s a tremble in the trees
Brother 3: Here it like a whisper
Smell it on the summer breeze
(Mm, mm)
Brother 1: Something big is getting nearer
Brother 2: Something big is coming through
Brother 3: Got some monkey business
All: That’s what we intend to do
All:
Come on!
I wanna monkey
Monkey around
Come on!
I gotta monkey
Monkey around
Come on!
We're gonna monkey
Ooh we're gonna monkey around
Ooh
Horton: (Spoken) The Wickershams. Hm hello (timid)
All:
Well it's bigger than a breadbox
Hey it's wider than a whale
Hmm mm
Peanut butter breath
And scared to death from head to tail
So you're still talking to dust, oh what rot
A dust speck that's all full of Whos who are not
There aren't any Whos, why I don't hear a sound
Come on!
We gotta monkey
Monkey around
