Mrs. Butler
School-Based Therapist
I am so excited to journey with you this year! This will be my second year as the School-Based Therapist and I am overjoyed, along with Ms. Cheatham, to be caring for the social emotional needs of our campus.
I've lived in Austin for 25 years (wow!) since starting school at UT Austin. There I earned a bachelors in Sociology and then a masters in Social Work - Go Horns! I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and have worked in both the clinical as well as the administration aspects of social work and also helped run a marketing agency with my husband.
Our family includes my husband, John, kids Jordan (15), Jill (12), and Joanna (9), and our Goldendoodle, Lucy! Together we love pizza movie nights, playing games, a good season of Survivor, and cheering each other on through life's ups and downs. This summer, we enjoyed a two-week road trip to the west coast - so beautiful!
Kids have a lot on their plates these days, don't they? In my role here at BCE, I love playing a small part in helping our students learn about themselves, new ways to cope with challenges, and equipping them to thrive as they take on life's adventures. And in every interaction, I want kids to know, deep down inside, the sentiment spoken by one of my all-time heroes, Fred Rogers:
“You've made this day a special day, just by being you. There's no person in the whole world like you, and I like you just the way you are."
