Once upon a time during the school year 1969-1970, the student body of Country Day School Kindergarten (across the road from where the stadium is now) would gather each morning on the blacktop and watch the dump trucks and bulldozers as they worked to build Westlake HS. I was one of those kids, and now here I am!
I grew up in Austin, graduated from Crockett High School in 1982 (Always Victorious!) and graduated from the University of Texas (Hook 'em!) in 1987. This will be my 36th year of teaching.
I have taught Latin and History in Waco, San Antonio, and Austin. I started at Westlake HS in 1999. In the 26 years I have been a part of Eanes ISD, I have taught at Westlake, Hill Country, and West Ridge!
This summer saw me celebrating my 31st wedding anniversary and becoming a grandfather. I have four wonderful human children and several more-or-less wonderful non-human children including one cat, two dogs, four chickens, two hives of bees, and a whole lot of fish.
Three quotes by the great philosophers Vergil, Caesar, and Ricky Bobby sum up the philosophy of this class: "Perge modo (Just keep going)", "Insta (Press on)", and "Ego volo ire quam celerrime (I wanna go fast)!"
Whether you have me for World History or Latin, I hope you are able to take away something from my class that you consider worth knowing and useful in the future.
