Autism as Context Blindness
Written By Peter Vermeulen, Phd., Autism as Context Blindness is the text we will be using for this module. Focusing on Chapter 3: Context in Perception and Chapter 4: Context in Social Interaction, students will reflect on the reading and respond to questions utilizing discussion format below. Be sure to submit your responses using form listed below.
- Summarize the chapter in one to two paragraphs.
- Provide closer look for two ideas presented in the chapter. Be sure to show connections to your personal experiences.
- Highlight a new idea for you in the reading.
- Raise a question on how you can apply concepts into your teaching practice.
LESSON TWO:
Review this video on Technology as an Intervention for ASD.
Research and provide an example of technology as an intervention for each of the three categories:
- Technology enhanced Learning
- Social Media and Communication
- Video Learning (Video Modeling)
Create a ppt (or keynote) presentation including each of the examples above with explanation of how to use in your classroom. Be sure to include components that foster inclusion in your classroom.
Be prepared to share your presentation at our synchronous session.
