This short documentary, created by high school students, on Jane Elliott's Brown Eyes, Blue Eyes experiment highlights the events influencing her decision to create "walk in someone else's experience" and the personal costs for her acts of courage (Nashua-Plainfield High School, 2014).
In this example, students demonstrate an ability to synthesize "curating and creating" to show different perspectives that are relevant in today's cultural experience. What kind of learning objectives foster this type of learning experiences? Does your pedagogical practice generate opportunities for learners to have a growth mindset toward an inclusive perspective?

According to Dweck, "In a fixed mindset students believe their basic abilities, their intelligence, their talents, are just fixed traits. In a growth mindset students understand that their talents and abilities can be developed through effort, good teaching and persistence" (Morehead 2012).
Do your students have the ability to press through challenging tasks? Would you like to shift your instructional approach from being a cheerleader to a coach? A growth mindset adds a "yet" to the end of limiting statements. View Dweck's video on Teaching a Growth Mindset for an overview.
