Here's the press release for the very first Sports Camp at EAC:
Last Spring, the Athletic Department at EAC, along with AmSoc (The American Society of Sao Paulo) initiated an event called the EAC Sports Camp where CAS students from EAC hosted students from Grupo Primavera to learn how to play sports and play team building games.
The event was a great success. Click through the photos above to see what the Camp looked like. Below, read the EAC Newsflash about the event:
The Jogando Junto Team proudly announces that EAC's first ever Sports Camp was a GIANT success! On Sunday, May 21, EAC hosted the Jogando Junto Sports Camp, a service project lead by a motivated team of 11th grade IB students, with the support of EAC faculty and the American Society of São Paulo - Campinas (AmSoc). Nearly 80 students from Grupo Primavera (9-15 years old) participated in the all-day Sports Camp that had them rotating through different stations: soccer, basketball, volleyball, and cooperative games & challenges. Each station was staffed and coached by our very own student-athletes! The Camp was a GIANT project with 15 IB students, 11 Upper School student volunteers, faculty, families, and the Ponte Preta Team Mascot (THANK YOU, George and Gabriela Lanza!).
The Jogando Junto Team sends a special thank you to Grupo Primavera, the EAC student volunteers, our guest speakers: Rodrigo Mirando and Arthur Braga, Head of School Tom Pado, CAS Coordinator Paul Strootman, Athletic Director Nick Leeson, and the American Society of São Paulo-Campinas. A big thank you to Nick Leeson for the concept and format of the Camp!
We would also like to thank our generous sponsors and donors for helping to make Jogando Junto possible:
Jogando Junto received tremendous positive feedback from Grupo Primavera students and EAC students who both loved building new relationships, learning and teaching, and just having fun through sports. Each participating IB student will receive CAS credit toward their IB diploma.
The next Jogando Junto Sports Camps are scheduled for Spring 2017 and Fall 2018. The Team intends to make the next Sports Camp even better, and continue to foster the importance of community service, peer-to-peer mentoring, and sports in education.
The event was so successful that it has been scheduled for every semester. The next EAC Sports Camp will be held on October 8th, 2017. If you want to be a part of next Sports Camp, please contact either Mr. Leeson or Mr. Strootman to get details.
