Fantastic Fish, Animals & Other Creatures

Project Objectives:

  1. Effectively use the Elements of Design to create a sculpture in the round using paper mache' materials. (Creating, Connecting)

  2. Plan and produce a sculpture (10 - 14" in length or height), taking into account HOW it will be displayed. Include any mounting or hanging hardware in the design. (Creating, Producing/Presenting)

  3. Students will create an armature, apply layers of glue and paper, then paint their work to add details and enhance the aesthetic impact. (Creating, Producing/Presenting)

  4. Create original works, establish a criteria for your work to be judged against and verbalize (in writing) how your work meets or fails to meet the goals of a successful functional artwork. (Producing/Presenting, Responding, Connecting)

  5. Be productive and work independently without undue oversight, keeping your work area managed and tidy. (21st Century - Employ-ability)


Fantastic Creatures - Paper Mache

Acrylic & Glue Batik

Project Objectives:

  1. Use Acrylics Paint, Fabric and Glue to create an image using a resist technique to contain and control color bleed. (Creating, Connecting)

  2. Produce a balanced variety of colors while utilizing both gradients and sold areas of color. (Creating, Producing/Presenting)

  3. Create an artwork that utilizes the entire compositional space provided and has a recognizable subject. (Creating, Producing/Presenting)

  4. Be productive and work independently without undue oversight. (21st Century - Employ-ability)

Glue Batik Project - 7th Grade Art

Origami Plates and Bowls... "Clay-igami"

Project Objectives:

  1. Use clay slabs to create ceramic objects (3) that have the appearance of cut and bent or folded "paper".(Creating, Connecting)

  2. Design and construct a clay piece by using a paper template to first see how well an idea works, then to compare your finished product with the folded paper version for accuracy. (Creating, Producing/Presenting)

  3. Students will create a purposeful, clean or pattern texture and avoid leaving messy, unfinished edges and surfaces. (Creating, Producing/Presenting)

  4. Create original works, establish a criteria for your work to be judged against and verbalize (in writing) how your work meets or fails to meet the goals of a successful functional artwork. (Producing/Presenting, Responding, Connecting)
