School Social Worker

Role of a Social Worker

Social Workers are professionals who aim to enhance overall well-being and help meet basic and complex needs of communities and people.

Social workers work in child welfare, schools, hospitals, community behavioral health agencies, government agencies and many other places to support the person in their environment.

Role of a School Social Worker

A school social worker is a vital asset to the school community: a link between students, parents, school staff and the school district.

The role of a school social worker involves wearing many hats, including attendance champion, case manager, student and parent advocate, student mediator, supporter and distributor of resources.

All Social Workers are held to The NASW Code of Ethics. This Code is intended to serve as a guide to the everyday professional conduct of social workers.
