The Concert Bands consist of students in grades 9-12th and places emphasis on the development of musical fundamentals in preparation for future placement in Wind Ensemble or Collegiate Ensembles. This ensemble has sectionals throughout the schoolyear and performs a minimum of four concerts. The concert band also attends the ABODA Regional Concert Band Festival.

The String Orchestra earned a rating of Excellence with Recognition at the 2026 Shadow Ridge HS ABODA Concert Festival qualifying them for the 2026 ABODA State Festival.

The Wind Ensemble consists of the most advanced musicians in grades 9-12. This is an auditioned ensemble meeting daily and performing in four concerts along with ABODA festivals & other public appearances throughout the year. Every section of the Wind Ensemble meets weekly for sectionals after school & places an emphasis in the development of elite musicians, educators, or leaders.

The Wind Ensemble earned ratings of Excellence with Recognition at both the 2025 Camelback ABODA Area Concert Festival & 2025 ABODA State Festival. Most recently they earned a rating of Superior with Distinction at the 2026 Camelback HS ABODA Concert Festival qualifying them for the 2026 ABODA State Festival.

The Orchestra consists of musicians in grades 9-12 and places emphasis on the development of musical fundamentals in preparation for future opportunities in Symphony Orchestra or Collegiate Ensembles. This ensemble has sectionals throughout the schoolyear and performs a minimum of four concerts. The concert band also attends the ABODA Regional Concert Band Festival.

The Symphony Orchestra is the newest addition to VVHS & consists of auditioned musicians in grades 9-12 . Thie ensemble places emphasis on the development of musical fundamentals in preparation for larger scale symphonic works. This ensemble has sectionals throughout the school year and performs a minimum of four concerts. In addition, the VVSO hosts their very own Night at The Symphony in March.

The Valley Vista Vanguard Marching Ensemble consists of musicians in grades 9-12 and places emphasis on the development of the marching arts fundamentals in preparation for competitive season in the ABODA circuit. This ensemble has sectionals, camps, & performances throughout the school year with a minimum of five competitive shows throughout Arizona. 

The Vanguard finished the 2024 season with a rating of Superior & 10th Place in ABODA Div III. Most recently, in 2025 they finished their last season with a rating of Superior and placed 8th in Div III qualifying them for ABODA State Championships for the first time in school history.

The VVHS Big Band consists of musicians in grades 9-12 and places an emphasis on the development of musical fundamentals in the jazz setting with a focus on big band style. This ensemble has rehearsals & sectionals starting towards the end of the marching season. They perform a minimum of two concerts and other public appearances. The Big Band also attends the ABODA Regional Jazz Band Festival. 

The Vanguard Big Band has earned a rating of Excellence at the 2025 Willow Canyon HS ABODA Jazz Festival. Most recently they earned a rating of Excellence at the 2026 Corona Del Sol HS ABODA Jazz Festival qualifying them for the 2026 ABODA State Jazz Festival.
