To qualify for the Arizona State Seal of Civics Literacy, a student will complete: 

1. Complete all Social Studies requirements for graduation with GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent.

2. Pass the Arizona Civics Exam with a Score of  70% or better (Class of 2026)

3. Complete portfolio requirements from each of the 3 categories:

   1. 1.  Civic Learning Programs (Must Complete 3)

         • Options include but are not limited to:

           • Pass AP Government and Politics Exam with a 3 or Better

           • Attend Approved Summer Institute and/or Intensive (Approved list on ADE Website)

           • Extra-Curricular/Co-Curricular Programs

           • School sponsored extracurricular activity (Approved List on ADE Website)

      2. Civic Engagement Activities/Community Service - Must be completed OUTSIDE of the school day over the course of the student's HS experience

         • • 30 hours must be recorded with 10 of those hours dedicated to civics specific activities. Documented in central location

      3. Complete Written Reflection - For purpose of demonstrating civic knowledge
