Welcome to First Grade! I am so excited to be your teacher this year! We are going on a learning adventure and will be growing our brains everyday!
This school year will be my seventh year teaching elementary school. I started my teaching career in Americorps in 2011. I have been a Title 1 Reading Interventionist, a 3rd grade teacher, a math teacher for grades 3-5, and now a 1st grade teacher. I received my bachelor's degree in English from Purdue University and my masters of education degree from the University of Phoenix.
I have been married to Mr. Tarkany for twelve years, and we have two amazing children: Logan who is 11 and Lexie who is 9. We also have two brown dogs: Charlie and Esmerelda, and one black and white cat named Jeff.
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy relaxing with my family, gardening, exploring Arizona, and shopping for shoes (I love shoes!).
