July 31-Aug 1st: Expectations, Rules, Consequences, and Rewards. Student Survey's on what they would like to learn in art and what projects they would like to do. A game of "This or That" to get know each other.
Mondays are our Book Study to support ELA. We will be reading independently, A Wrinkle in Time in Intro, Mixed, and Advanced art and in 5th grade art they will be reading whole group aloud The Color of My Words.
Aug 5-9:
All Classes: will be making Art Portfolios to keep their artwork organized in and to keep work separate in their table folders. One side will have 4 different types of art styles and the other side will have their artist statement, 3 things they want to learn or improve on and their artist signature.
Aug 12-15:
Mixed Media: 6, 7 & 8th graders are learning about the principle of pattern and the element of line. They are incorporating the principle and element of art into a project that is Art Deco inspired.
Intro to Art: 6, 7 & 8th graders are learning about the principle of pattern and the element of line. They are incorporating the principle and element of art into a project that is Art Deco inspired.
Advanced Art: 7 & 8th grade are learning perfection through imperfection. Using scribbling or hatching with ink pen on Stonehenge paper to make a portrait of someone important to them, hen applying acrylic paint for the background.
5th Grade: Big Letter/ Big Story Project. Students will take their first initial of their first or last name and decorate it and around it to tell a story about themselves.
Yearbook: Watched videos from Jostens platform on photography , theme, tone and layouts. Students worked collaboratively, brainstorming on the theme and tone of this year's yearbook. Students got familiar with the Jostens online platform and started taking photographs around the school. Students have starting taking pictures after they learned the Rule of Thirds.
Aug 19-22:
Mixed Media: Students will starting their first 3D project using paper mache and acrylic paint. They will be creating the first initial of their first or last name and adding designs of things they like.
Intro to Art: Students will be starting Symbolic Self-Portraits using their choice of a silhouette and adding color and detail their tells a story about themselves.
Advanced Art: Students will start pencil animal portraits.
5th Grade: Students are creating Intuitive Line drawings.
Yearbook: Students continue to take pictures and upload them to the cloud. Mrs. Hinde, the Josten's rep. will be coming to go over choosing the theme and help with any platform questions.
