This is my eleventh year in the Dysart District.  I am proud to be a Demon at Dysart High School for the 2024-2025 school year!

I have previously taught 23 years of English; mainly at the 8th grade level.  The 2024-2025 school year will be my 24th year teaching in my own classroom, but I've been in education for over 30 years in different capacities.

I have a Bachelor's Degree from NAU in Elementary Education with a Minor in Spanish.  My Master's Degree was also obtained from NAU as a K-12 Reading Specialist with a Minor in Multicultural Education.  I am fluent in English, and know enough Spanish and ASL (American Sign Language) to get by if I needed to do so.

I am certified to teach 7-12 English and fulfill the requirements to be labeled "Highly Qualified."   I am a Dysart HERO, and every day I strive to meet the needs of my students.

In my personal life, I am also a stepmom to a Valley Vista High School Graduate, Class of 2019.  In December of 2016, we rescued a small mixed breed white puppy, Lucy Ann.  Then in January 2017, we rescued Piper Rose.   It is our belief we rescued one another!  My home is all about my stepson, and I highly value family time.  After growing up in National Parks, living in the city came as a shock when I entered 5th grade in downtown Phoenix in '89.  Since then, I have definitely acclimated and adore being just a few minutes away from the store, shopping, friends, or a movie theater!  If I'm missing from my home or work, everyone who knows me knows to go to the nearest book store, because I often spend time (and my paychecks) buying new books to read and share with anyone willing to stand still long enough to listen!

I love crafting, and have an Etsy store to sell my sewing, embroidery, and screen printing crafts.

Looking at myself as a teacher, I do not view it as merely a 'job,' but rather as a career, and I encourage the open door policy to students and parents.  Please feel free to ask questions, send emails, and encourage your child to engage in the learning process!

Thank you so much for being so welcoming here at Dysart!  Go Demons!
