Homework

Here are some suggestions on what you can do at home to reinforce concepts we are learning in class.

Reading/Writing

READ EVERY NIGHT to your child. This builds vocabulary and comprehension skills.  When you are done reading a story to your child, ask them some questions to see if they understood what you read.  You may also teach them the names of letters of the alphabet.

Math

Use flashcards (write a number from 1 - 10 on an index card) and have your child tell you the number on the card when you show it to them.  If your child can recognize numbers 1 - 10 already, then say a number and have your child write the number correctly on a whiteboard or piece of paper, or make the number using play-doh or trace the number in sand or salt.   If you child can correctly write numbers 1 - 10 already, then show your child two numbers and ask, "Which number is greater?"  "Which number is less?"
