Physical Conditioning and Girl's P.E.

Parents/Students:


Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year at Dysart High School! Here are important details to support your student with their physical education course.

Physical Conditioning will be 1st through 4th period during 1st & 2nd Semester.

Freshman Girl’s PE will be 7th period during 1st & 2nd Semester.


Objective/Purpose: Enrollment in PE & Physical Conditioning is to provide your student the experience of movement, skill acquisition and a lifetime enjoyment of physical exercise, sport and recreation. Through regular exercise/movement and a nutritionally balanced diet, students will participate in daily activities (listed below) and experience real-life discussions regarding healthy body maintenance. Ms. Shaw will positively encourage students to bring out the best in each other and their own selves while enjoying sport/movement in the class setting.

Student Absences: If your student is absent, they are expected to provide participate in 30 minutes of exercise outside of school and provide a parent signed note from home including: Student Name, Absent Date, Period, "My student exercised for 30 minutes." Remember the parent signature and to provide this note to your teacher.


Dress/Suiting Up: Students are expected to dress with school approved PE attire each day of class. Upon arrival to class, students will secure personal belongings in a specified locker with their lock. Recommended attire include red shorts and a gray shirt with non-marking shoes.

Lock Fee/P.E. Gear: Students/parents are expected to secure the use of a school rented lock through the bookstore for the designated fee. P.E. uniforms are also available for purchase at the bookstore. District mandated policy require the $5.00 lock use fee. FYI.


Warm-Up/Stretching: Students will participate in warm-up exercise and stretching prior to specified daily instructional activities.


Physical Conditioning - Unit of Study:

WEEKS 1-2 Introduction, curriculum, syllabus review, fitness testing, locks, procedures, etc.

WEEKS 3-5 Learn Olympic Lifts & Max Out


Girl’s PE - Unit of Study:

WEEKS 1-2 Introduction, curriculum, syllabus review, fitness testing, locks, procedures, etc.

WEEKS 3-5 Ultimate Frisbee


NOTE: The actual schedule of specific units will vary based on PE PLC Planning and determined on the Monday afternoon prior to the unit start. Schedule will be communicated to students on the first Tuesday of each 2 or 3-week unit.
