Drawing 3-4 Course Description:

Students will learn advanced drawing techniques including 2-point, 3-point and exaggerated perspective, proportional drawing and gesture drawing. Students will further develop their drawing skills using media from Drawing 1 as well as dry pastels, oil pastels and brush/ink techniques. Focus will be on development of advanced skills, personal drawing style, originality and life drawings. Historic drawing masters will be taught through drawing projects. Portfolio development will continue for presentation/interview at the end of the semester. Exhibition of artwork is a required aspect of the class.


Here is a list of both required and suggested items for the school year:


Required -

  • 9”x12” spiral bound sketchbook (8.5”x 11” is ok). Either a drawing or mixed media sketchbook is fine.
  • #2 Pencils (wood, not mechanical)
  • Erasers (the Pink Pearl type, but doesn’t have to be that brand specifically)
  • Glue Sticks
  • Highlighters


Suggested (especially if you know you want to continue art/drawing in HS or beyond) -

  • Assorted drawing/sketching pencil (ex- 4B, 3B, 4H, HB, 2H)
  • Colored pencils (if you want colors that extend the basic rainbow-type colors)
  • Tech liner pens (black ink pens with small tip - around 0.5mm)
  • Specialty drawing erasers.
  • A good quality pencil sharpener
