Mrs. Green's Homework

Reading:

    • Students should read for 20 - 30 minutes each night from:
      • The Fluency page that is inside their homework packet: Read for 1 minute. Count the number of words you read. Record it in the fluency chart found in the homework packet.
      • Read from a book or magazine of student's choice.
      • Extra credit: write a paragraph about what you read, telling main idea, details, problem, solution, inferences, etc.

Math:

    • Complete one page each night, in the order that it is stapled in the packet. I match the homework with the learning that happened in the classroom that day, so (eager beavers) do not go ahead and complete all the math pages on Monday. Some of it hasn't been taught, yet.
    • If it takes your child more than 10-15 minutes to complete their math page, then talk to me, and I will modify it for them. I don't believe in stressing out over homework.

Phonics:

    • Phonics words must be written out every night. Your child will need paper to do this.
    • Procedure:
      • Read the word.
      • Sound it out (finger-stretch the word) without looking at it.
      • Write the word without looking at it.
    • Choose an activity from the choice menu.
