2026 Summer Science theme:
Spark your Curiosity: What's your Question?
We have curated a series of activities for you to have fun with below. Our goal is to get you exploring as much as you can, asking questions, and sometimes answering them. We want you to be active doers and creative thinkers. This means as much screen-free time as possible! See below for your instructions to create a super, science, spark-filled summer. Sharing is caring, can you involve your brother, cousin, mom, nona ... get them asking questions too!
The padlet below can't accept pictures of individuals or groups of people with their faces in, but If you have some awesome pictures to share with you in them, please send them on to nashton@dwight.ae with your name and homeroom as we would love to share these in our newsletter when we return. Have a super sciency spark-filled summer Dwight Scientists!
If you take all of the fish out of the ocean, how much would the sea level decrease by?
The greatest scientists are the ones who ask the best questions. With this Summer's theme Spark your Curiosity: What's your question? Your summer competition is to come up with some really creative questions. Maybe some humans can explore already, and some we may not be able to just yet, but don't let that stop you asking.
Take a picture of something that inspired you to ask a question, and post it, along with your question, here. You could pin it to where the picture is taken, or maybe the place that inspired you to think of the question.
Only images without faces can be added.
Add your name and homeroom for house points.
You could take a Gus print out of the images above, or mascot, on your travels with you.
There are some really interesting articles on lots of different science topics here. Read about something interesting, maybe explore it a little ready to report back after summer.
For house points, here, you can add your name, homeroom, and a little review (100 words max) on what you found most interesting.
We would love to see you having creative, curiousity inspired chaos over summer. (Be sure to help clean up after!)
Here you can find our Summer Activities guide, taken from the British Science Week Activity Pack.
Show us what you have got up to when doing the science experiments over your summer vacation here. We can't have faces in these pictures, but you could include Gus!
Be sure to include your name and Homeroom as we will be giving out house points for everyone who gets involved.
