Situated on a historic square-mile church property with over 250 acres of natural forest and more than a century of heritage, we contributed to the master planning of a 100-acre development, shaping the future of the surrounding neighborhoods. Drawing inspiration from the architectural features of the 125-year-old church, we revived traditional masonry techniques by guiding local artisans in crafting burnt clay bricks. This effort resulted in the design and construction of a series of buildings that make up a 20-acre agricultural school campus and guesthouse, seamlessly blending heritage with innovation.
This modern secondary school is planned for development on a 10-acre site at the edge of peri-urban Kampala. Our design approach aims to balance the client’s extensive programmatic requirements with the creation of a comfortable and inspiring learning environment for young teenagers. Notably, we are exploring an innovative dormitory layout that provides each student with a sense of personal space within a shared living arrangement.
Located at a Christian retreat center, this chapel building was conceived to provide a dedicated worship throughout the year. In order to stand out, the building is positioned as the focal point of a new courtyard. The interior of the building is designed to give a dramatic spatial experience focused on the skylit altar that contrasts from the chapel’s modest exterior.
