Class Overviews
5th Grade Science - In fifth grade, students will develop their understanding of life, physical, and Earth and space science through hands-on investigations, data analysis, modeling, and evidence-based explanations. Key topics include ecosystems and plant growth, matter and its properties, energy transfer through sound, light, heat, and electricity, and Earth’s systems and patterns. I am eager to work with students to strengthen their ability to think and work like scientists and engineers by asking questions, conducting investigations, analyzing data and designing solutions to problems. I am eager to promote a fun and engaging learning environment for your students!
6th Grade Science - In sixth grade, students will explore Earth and space science, physical science, and life science while using scientific practices to investigate real-world phenomena and problems. Key topics include patterns and movement in the night sky, Earth’s systems and resources, matter and energy, forces and interactions, and the relationships between living organisms and their environments. I will work with the students to develop stronger scientific reasoning skills by asking questions, developing and revising models, conducting investigations, analyzing data, using evidence to explain their thinking, and designing solutions to engineering problems. I can't wait to make science and learning fun for your students!
Homeroom Reading - In sixth grade reading, students will build their comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, and critical-thinking skills through engaging novels and meaningful discussions. We will begin the school year with Wonder, followed by Echo and The Lightning Thief, using each novel to explore themes such as friendship, courage, identity, perseverance, and the choices characters make. I am excited to read, learn, and explore with your students!
