About Me

the Basics

My name is Mrs. Schacherer (she/her/hers) and I am 33 years old. I own my house in Dawson where I live with my husband, Chris, 9-month old son, Wayne, and 7-year-old pet cat named Maya. My hobbies include organizing, reading, going to student events, cooking, taking care of my house plants & garden during the summer, and spending time with friends and family.

I started teaching at DBHS during the 2014-2015 school year. This is my 10th year teaching at DBHS. Classes you may have me for as your teacher or advisor are Health Education 7-9, Health Elective 10-12, Computer 7, and 7th grade Blackjack Advisory. I am also the Student Council (StuCo) advisor.

Education

I graduated from DBHS in 2009. I choose to attend the University of Minnesota in Duluth (UMD) for my undergraduate degree. I started with the major of Undecided and then declared the major of Health Education - School Concentration during the spring semester of 2010. In May 2013, I graduated from UMD with a Bachelors of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Health Education with a certificate in Educational Computing and Technology. In 2015, I attended the University of Minnesota Twin Cities (UMNTC) online to add a licensure in Computer, Keyboarding & Related Technology Applications, as well as a certificate in K-12 Technology Integration.  I completed that program in May 2016. In October 2016, I began working towards my masters degree through Saint Mary's University. During the summer of 2017, I took and passed the certification exams to become a Google Certified Educator, Level 1 and 2. In October 2018, I graduated from Saint Mary's with a Master of Arts in Education. During the summer of 2020, I re-certified as a Google Certified Educator for Levels 1 & 2!
