iPad: Getting Started

Getting Started Basic Operation Adding Apps Guided Access Broken, Lost or Stolen Class Management

Expectations

  • In classroom and used every day!


  • Follow the Acceptable Use Agreement.


  • Report breakage immediately to campus administrator. Process on how to report damage.

District Acceptable Use Agreement


  • Teachers/Staff are responsible for proper care of district equipment [Policy CQ] and report malfunctioning equipment in a timely manner to the Technology Help Desk [Policy CL]


  • Teachers/Staff make reasonable effort to ensure that district equipment is not stolen from unmonitored classrooms or vehicles

Connecting to the WiFi

Connect at school

      • Device is set to automatically connect to district WiFi. (Student filtered WiFi)


      • If it is not connecting, please open a HelpDesk ticket.

Connect at home

1. Go to Settings

2. Select WiFi

3. On the right select your home network.

4. It will prompt for a password. Type in your home network password and select "Join."

Teacher iPad vs. Student iPad

One of the classroom sets will have a "T" marked on the back of the iPad to indicate this is the one the Teacher can use to evaluate apps. All iPads are filtered through our Wi-Fi as required by the state of Texas.

The Teacher iPad can access the following:

      • App Store
      • iTunes Store
      • YouTube
      • FaceTime
      • iMessage
      • Apple Music
      • Podcasts

The Student iPads have:

      • Restrictions such as:
        • Cannot Add apps
        • Cannot delete apps
        • Cannot access App Store, iTunes Store, etc.

Create iTunes Account Without a Credit Card

  1. Open the App Store, iTunes Store, or iBooks Store.


  1. Choose any free app, song, video, or book.


  1. Tap Get next to the item, then tap again to get it.


  1. When you're asked to sign in with an Apple ID, tap Create New Apple ID.


Follow the onscreen instructions. When you're asked for payment information, choose None. See what to do if None isn't showing or you can't select it.

IMPORTANT Setting for Teacher iPad

By adding this setting, it will prevent students from adding apps to the Teacher iPad.





1. Select Settings

2. Select iTunes & App Store

3. Select Password Settings

4. Select Always Require
