iPad: Basic Operation

Getting Started Basic Operation Adding Apps Guided Access Broken, Lost or Stolen Class Management

Care and Protection

Keep protective cases on at all times.

Use lint free cloth to clean the screen.

Keep out of extreme heat.

Do not use water or chemicals to clean.

Charge overnight so they are ready to use each day.

Do not stack other items on top of the iPads.

iPad Parts

Wake / Sleep / Power Off

Wake Up!

Press the Home button once to wake the screen, then press again to access the apps.

Sleep

Press the Sleep/Wake button to turn off the screen and help to save battery life.

Turn Off / On

To turn off completely select and hold the Sleep/Wake button until you see "Slide to Power Off"

Safari Browser

Favorites Bar in Safari


Have Favorites Bar show in Safari (Also known as the Bookmark Bar)

  1. From the Homescreen > tap on Settings > Safari.
  2. Move the slider button next to "Show Favorite Bar" to the right to turn it ON.
  3. Press the Home button to get back to the Homescreen.


Add Bookmark in Safari


  1. Open Safari and go to one of your most visited websites.
  2. Press the "Share" button
  3. Select "Add Bookmark".
  4. Personalize the site name that appears in the first field.
  5. Select the location of where you want the bookmark to appear. Add it to the "Favorites" location if you want it to appear in the bar. Add it to the "Bookmarks" location if you want to locate it through the bookmarks icon.
  6. Click "Save".


Delete a Bookmark from favorites bar


  1. In Safari, select the book icon in the top left of the screen.
  2. Select Favorites menu.
  3. Select the "Edit" link on the lower right.
  4. Select the red "minus" sign.
  5. Select "Delete".
  6. Select "Done".

Add Website to home screen

To add your favorite website on the Home Screen as an icon:


  1. Open Safari and go to one of your favorite website.
  2. Press the "Share" button (you can find this icon on the left of the + symbol)
  3. Select "Add to Home Screen." (you may have to scroll to the right to access this button)
  4. Personalize the site name that appears in the first field.
  5. Click "Add." (upper right)
