What are we doing in math?

We will:

• Begin our next unit, "Relating Multiplication to Division."

• Write division expressions to represent division situations, and solve “How many groups?” and “How many in each group?” division problems.

• Relate multiplication and division and recognize division as an unknown factor problem.

• Use the relationship between multiplication and division to write equations and solve problems.

• Identify known multiplication facts within 100 and their related division facts.

• Identify and explain patterns in the multiplication table.

• Use rectangles/area diagrams to explore multiplication strategies.

• Complete mid-year assessments to determine current progress.

• Learn and practice a variety of math skills/concepts, differentiated according to students' individual levels of progress (using the online programs Matific, Splash, Amplify, and IXL).

• Engage in puzzles and problem-solving tasks.

• Play math games to strengthen skills and conceptual understanding.
