Nominations are now closed for 2026 Dog of the Year
The ADSA DOG OF THE YEAR award is the brainchild of the Health and Genetics Committee. An ADSA member may nominate any AKC Dutch Shepherd believed to exemplify the characteristics that we most admire in our amazing breed. First requirement for nomination? The Dutch Shepherd’s CHIC number must be listed in the OFA database. A dog achieves CHIC Certification if it has been screened for every disease recommended by the parent club and those results are publicly available in the database at https://ofa.org/chic-programs/ browse-by-breed/?breed=DS
The ADSA DOG OF THE YEAR must meet current CHIC requirements.
The ADSA DOG OF THE YEAR must be owned by a current ADSA member in good standing.
The ADSA DOG OF THE YEAR can be awarded to the same dog no more than three times.
The ADSA DOG OF THE YEAR award is for an exceptional dog, there may be years when the DOY is not awarded despite nominations.
