· Socio-Economically Challenged
· Special Circumstances
Summer School (if applicable) each summer from 9th grade through 11th grade (if required summer school is not completed, students will be removed from the AVID program)
Constant collaboration with AVID students, AVID teacher and tutors, and content teachers
High expectations from other teachers because they are AVID students
Heavy writing curriculum in AVID elective
Students WILL take Focused Notes in ALL academic classes, ALWAYS
Weekly Learning Logs for ALL academic classes (Reflection on student learning)
Full academic schedule (no T.A. positions)
Rigorous Academic Curriculum: Living Earth, Integrated Math, Honors Courses. To earn a “C” in these classes, students will HAVE to WORK HARDER than they ever have before.
WHS AVID expectation of “C” or above in ALL a-g courses, or students may be dropped from AVID
Student evaluations after each semester whereupon academic contracts or removal from the AVID program will be implemented if a “C” or above is not earned in academic classes
Tutorials twice per week (MANDATORY: before/after school if needed)
25 hours of community service each school year opportunities offered through the WHS AVID Program (Distinguished Graduate)
Fundraiser Participation
College Campus Tours/Guest Speakers
HW for 2-3 hours each evening (all classes combined)
