COURSE DESCRIPTION: 

The goals of the English Language Development(ELD) course are to gain the fundamental skills of the

English language that the student will need to academically progress. This course implements the

California English Language Development Standards (CA ELD Standards) to amplify the California State

Standards for English Language Arts. English learners will be knowledgeable about the English language

and utilize it as a resource for communicating and learning. The course is designed to help students

develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English. This course requires students to use

technology as well as cooperative learning. Students will be assessed in the four strands: reading, writing,

listening and speaking, in order to demonstrate language acquisition. Students are expected to practice

consistency by completing all assignments and applying effort during each lesson.
