Ocular Motor and Visual Perception:

How do Ocular Motor and Vision Skills (including Visual Perception) affect learning? Weak eyes, eyes that do not work in unison, and/or challenges with visual perceptual skills can be the root causes for Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Poor Handwriting.

Students with these challenges may experience the following

• Letter Reversals with Handwriting

• Double Vision or Visual Effects that Impair Reading (things moving on the page, etc)

• Tired or Sore Eyes, Watery Eyes, Eye Redness

• Difficulty learning to read Phonetically: Better at Whole Word Recognition

• Ability to Recognize words, but cannot spell words correctly (even with lots of practice)

• Illegible Handwriting: poor spacing, size and/or shape of letters
