Tapa Whā - Semester


Tapa Whā = Semester. Making subjects into semesters allows choice for students. The idea here is that having choice and an ability to do more of what you love is good for the individual and your well being. 

Tapa Whā - part of Mason Durie Whare tapa whā - model of haoura and well being. Semester will have a positive influence on well being.

Semester = half year course. 

Year 9 and 10 Students will do the following:

Maths and English run 2 half year courses that are compulsory - links to numeracy and literacy

Social Studies, Health and Physical Education, Arts, Technology, Languages and Science will all have a compulsory semester course (half year) and offer optional semester courses for those that wish to pursue their area of interest.
