An easy way to determine the volume of an object is to see how much water is displaced (moves out of the way).

Fill two identical glasses with the same amount water. Use a marker to draw a line at the height on the water levels.
Find two solid, nonporous objects. Gently drop your first object into the glass. Use a marker to mark where the line rose. Repeat for the other object.
Use a ruler to measure the space between the first line and the second line for both glasses. If they measure the same length, the volumes match.
