Three detrital zircon samples from the South Carpathians using SLT (Sri Lanka) zircon as primary standard as well as FC1 and R33 as secondary standards. Samples were analyzed on Sept 14 2023 and produced a DZ pattern typical for late Cretaceous siliciclastics from that area (Getic basement sourced). Samples were analyzed in parallel at the Arizona ALC center in Tucson. One of them, sample P-3 is further shown below. 49 detrital grains were analyzed in this early test.
KDE distribution of best ages using probablity density plotter freeware for sample P-3. Data was reduced with Iolite 4.
Concordia age of standard SLT measured (below) as an unknown in our lab (Sept 13, 2023)
A Presumed late Cretaceous dike from Poiana Rusca was analyzed for U-Pb geochronology onb Sept 19 2023. 31 small indiviual zircons yielded a 77.1 Ma age, an expected age based on field relations. Data was reduced with iolite - see figure below. Plotting with ISOPLOT-R.
Titanite concordia age (below) on 70 Ma granitoid from Joshua Tree, a well known titanite bearing intrusion. We get the same age as previously known. mostly concordant. Plotted with Isoplot R
Titanite age of Joshua Tree pluton -weighted average of 8/6 ages below (Isoplot-R)
Below Sr elemental concentrations in ppm for NIST 610 and 612 the second of which is used as standard and the first is unknown. Differences between accepted and determined values (using IOlite) are within less than 10%
