Junior English AKA American Literature is focused on the American literary movements: Native American Lit, Puritans, Rationalists, Romantics, Realists, Modernists, and Contemporary Lit. Some of the texts we will read this year include The Great Gatsby, Black Boy, The Joy Luck Club, short stories, and selected works from the Holt Literature and Language Arts textbook.

As we study the literary movements and read different books this year, students will be working towards their end-of-year Capstone Project, which is a broad analysis of a whole year's worth of learning, an introspective project, and an interview. After each unit we do, from August to May, students will complete a reflection of what they learned.Â
