In the Dublin School District, athletics is an integral part of the school’s program of education. The Fallon Middle School Athletics program shares the educational mission of our school by offering opportunities to experience interpersonal growth, social development, and to improve physical and mental health for students.
Student athletes at Fallon Middle School are viewed first as individuals, second as students, and third as athletes. The success of our program is determined by academic achievement in the classroom, as well as the development of character, respect, maturity and sportsmanship through athletic competition. Our goal is to produce successful, well-rounded students who pursue higher education and ultimately, become contributing members of the community.
Through after school competition, the program provides an environment for social interaction and campus.community building. Athletics foster a sense of school spirit and tradition for the entire school community. A well-balanced athlete and athletic program is achieved through supportive relationships with the students, parents, alumni, staff, administration, the Board of Trustees and the City of Dublin.
Interscholastic athletics is a voluntary program. Thus, participation in middle school athletics is a privilege not a right. Accompanying that privilege is the responsibility to conform to standards established by our academic department. The privilege may be revoked when the athlete fails or refuses to comply with the rules. Athletic experiences contribute to the knowledge, skills, and emotional patterns that an athlete develops, thereby making one a better person and citizen.
Under this basic philosophy, students are encouraged to participate in many sports. No coach uses his/her personal bias or position to encourage a student not to participate in another sport; nor does a coach ever use personal bias to “sell” his/her sport at the expense of another. Athletics is one part, a vital one, but only one part of the overall educational experience of a student.
