DHS Culture Keepers work in the Wellness Center and help cultivate a safe, non-judgemental, and intentional space for students to get Wellness and Mental Health Support from their very own peers.
Culture Keepers are assigned as a TA to work in the Wellness Center and engage in a variety of activities such as: peer mental health support, culture keeper wellness projects, supporting the wellness center flow, and working with students to emotionally regulate and return to class.
The Culture Keeper position is a year long commitment and every student can earn 5 credits at the completion of the semester. Culture Keepers are trained in Youth Mental Health First Aid as well as motivational interviewing, solution focused coaching, and ongoing research on mental health topics.
