Team Obney and Smith Newsletters
It was wonderful to see so many of our families on February 26th as students shared their learning and goals for 4th Grade. We are very proud of our community and look forward to the coming months of learning and growing together. If you could not attend the Open House, students can share their folder of materials and slide presentation at home.
Information: The 4th grade will attend a live performance of the Kenyan folk tale titled “The Princess Who Lost Her Hair.”
Location: The Davidson Theatre/Riffe Center
Cost: FREE! Our kind and generous Hopewell PTO helped us finance the trip.
Lunch: On March 10, lunch is scheduled for 11:00. Students can pack or buy school lunch as usual.
Paper copies of the permission slip will be sent home on Monday. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Author Presentation: Hena Khan
The Hopewell PTO has supported our students' literacy growth this year in many ways. Author visits and presentations have been one of the ways our students' reading lives have been enriched. On Wednesday, March 4, our students will have a chance to meet Hena Khan and hear about her life as an author of books for all ages. We are sharing a collection of her picture books in the slides below. Her amazing picture books will be part of our studies as we prepare for Hena Khan's presentation. Enjoy!

The Museum of Biological Diversity Open House is one of the biggest outreach events in the College of Arts and Sciences of The Ohio State University. Every year we open our doors to the general public for a day of biodiversity exploration and discovery. During the event you can get a behind-the-scenes view of our world-class collections (insects, mites, spiders, plants, fishes, molluscs, birds, reptiles, mammals), plus meet the faculty, staff, and students who study the flora and fauna of Ohio and the world. You can also engage in a number of hands-on activities.
On this site you will find a bit of the history of the Museum Open House, since its inception in 2005. We are actively working on this historic archive, so please check back here for more updates.
This event would not be possible without our numerous volunteers.
When and Where is the Open House?
The Open House will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 10 am to 3 pm at the Museum of Biological Diversity (1315 Kinnear Road, Columbus, Ohio 43212). You can also find us on Google Maps by looking for the Triplehorn Insect Collection.
Where do I park?
Parking for the general public will be available in nearby Scitech lots and the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union lot. We ask that those with OSU parking passes park in CampusParc lots. Handicap parking will be available onsite. Volunteers will be at each parking location to help direct you.
