As a band member, your child will have the opportunity to build life-long friendships, travel the state and country, perform at some of the most iconic venues in the country, and make incredible music.  In the fall of 2023, your child will have the opportunity to perform on a national stage in America’s oldest Thanksgiving Day Parade in Philadelphia! 

You have two opportunities to participate in band:

• Band (5th period) contains the concert and marching aspects of our program.  If you are looking to continue your musical journey, register for this course!  

  • Students who participate in two seasons of Marching Band receive a PE waiver credit.

• Jazz (1st period) focuses on jazz and world music.  To register for Jazz, you should first register for Band.  If you have concerns about your academic load, please contact me for help!

Some of the most successful students in the school spend their time in the music wing.  Research shows that students who participate in music score better in math, science, and english.  Additionally, colleges look for students who participate in music as an extracurricular because of the invaluable life lessons your child will learn as a member of the band.

The Dublin Scioto Bands have a strong tradition of excellence and your child is an integral part of our future.  Band is the only activity where every single member, freshman through senior, are equally important to the group.  From your child’s first day in the band, they are a starter on the varsity team.  Nobody rides the bench in band!
