About Miss Scarpa

Welcome to the art class webpage! My name is Kelli Scarpa and I am the art teacher at Glacier Ridge Elementary! I am originally from Loveland, Ohio and moved to Columbus 3 years ago, shortly after graduating from Miami University. I love music, traveling, cooking, reading, spending time outside with my dog, Bruce, contemporary art, and of course making art too! My favorite media are painting, drawing, and ceramics, although creating most anything makes me happy.

I’ve always enjoyed the messier arts, and the freedom they give to be expressive. (And of course, the bigger the mess, the more fun you had making it!)

I can’t wait to share my enthusiasm and passion for art with your student and continue to learn and grow alongside them. The learning that takes place in the art classroom is so much more than shapes, colors, and technical skills. It is about problem solving, critical thinking, self-reflection and self-discovery. It is my goal to engage students in inspiring art-making with ample opportunities for individualism, and to create a comfortable classroom through personal relationships, community, and valuing diversity of all kinds. Let's create something awesome together!
