About the Equal Opportunity Cell
The Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) at the University of Delhi was launched on 27 June 2006 to support Persons with Disabilities (PwD). Its mission acknowledges that the true obstacles are external barriers environmental, economic, and cultural not the individuals themselves.
Functioning as both an administrative unit and a catalyst for change, the EOC promotes equality by ensuring barrier-free access across campus, implementing affirmative action, and facilitating short-term skill-building courses. It offers essential services like text scanning, assignment assistance, administrative help, e-books, and access to computer labs, boosting digital inclusion .
Through sensitization drives, workshops, and events such as Braille Day and Purple Fest, the EOC raises awareness and celebrates contributions of persons with disabilities. Its ongoing efforts ranging from policy implementation and accessible study materials to counselling and supportive services—cultivate a truly inclusive campus where every student can engage fully and thrive.
