DSWD through its Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD) is mandated to lead the planning, coordination and monitoring of all disaster response efforts including the provision of augmentation support to LGUs during disaster or calamity in the form of relief, rehabilitation, and recovery services in accordance with RA 10121, also known as the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act for 2010.
Specific Functions:
Provide relief and rehabilitation programs and services to Local Government Units in times of disaster;
Monitor and provide technical assistance and resource augmentation to LGUs and other intermediaries for the implementation and management of disaster programs;
Recommend/enhance operational guidelines on disaster concerns management to ensure smooth implementation at LGUs and intermediaries;
Study and assess the need of the LGUs and other intermediaries and allocate program funds as augmentation support thereof;
Enhance existing procedures, structures and mechanisms on disaster data management;
Maintain database of all disaster management activities and special concerns-related projects and activities and document best practice on these concerns; and
Act as the Secretariat or focal point for the inter-agency, inter-cluster coordination efforts along disaster management and special concerns.
